I just finished watching this "X-Files" episode. I don't understand why the artificial intelligence blows up its own hiding place at the end. Wouldn't that be a bad thing for it to do?

The computer was trying to zap the blonde chick, right? I guess it was too stupid to realize that if she was in the same place where it was, it'd destroy itself if it zapped her there. Of course, one could assume that she went there knowing that would happen, but... I dunno.
Besides, there are a lot of things in that episode that don't make sense...

If this is the episode I am thinking of, then I would sum the answer up as:
William Gibson should not write X-Files episodes. This coming from a Gibson fan, mind you.

The best part about the William Gibson episode is that the last scene is set in North Platte, Nebraska, a godforsaken hellhole that I had the good fortune to escape.
