View Full Version : What not-typically-sexualized body parts get your motor running?

Most straight guys like shapely breasts and butts, though we vary on our size preference (I prefer 'em small myself). Some like feet (I rarely see the big deal there). But what non-generally sexualized body parts get your motor running?
I'll naame two to start off: strong, prominent clavicles, and the hollow of a woman's knee. Yummy!
Next?
Are men's thighs generally considered sexualized? It's a cultural thing, though, so not sure if it counts. I'm all for good shoulders; six-packs are ok to look at if the rest is nice... but I'll take a guy who can walk for hours without stopping over a Mr Olympia runner-up any day of the week.
Or night of the week, even.

One that was pointed out in a women's magazine (Cosmo? Don't recall) was the swell of the hips, although some might consider that as part of the butt. Nevertheless, it's a part that can be shown in public without comment, but I find highly sexy.

Arms.
I was just reminded of this as I watched Next last night, which stars Jessica Biel. Beyond simply having one of the most perfect bodies I have ever seen, her arms are absolutely jaw-dropping. Fit and defined without looking like a nasty female bodybuilder or a coked-out supermodel. I couldn't stop looking at them.

I like the hollow of the throat. If I see a man with a well-defined hollow, it's an instant attraction. When they turn their head and I see the muscle line...so alluring.
I like the spot behind the sideburns, in front of the ear. In front of the tragus (http://cache.eb.com/eb/image?id=14304&rendTypeId=4) (yes, I had to look that up!).

Necks. Right under the corner of the jawbone.
And the right shaped mouth will do it every time.
Hmm... I'd say feet, but those are already pretty sexualized. Same with necks.
The small of the back and the shoulder blades.
And of course, a great smile.

On men:
Cupid's bow shaped lips
Big hands with thin wrists
tight stomach -- doesn't have to be a 6-pack, but defined
On women:
Hip bones -- she doesn't have to be uber thin, but if I can see the hip bones...wow
thin wrists (small hands are nice on girls, though!)
Cupid's bow shaped lips
On a related note -- I find straight lips and bee-stung lips to be a major turn-off.

Pretty much this nose (http://handson.provocateuse.com/show/adrien_brody).
I also always notice thighs. So many men totally neglect building their quads, a nice split at the front of the thigh always gets my attention. And forearms. A nice strong (but not excessively thick) forearm.

The male lower back, just above the butt, is the source of all male beauty and grace. I am convinced.

By that, do you mean that little crease about half an inch behind the chin? Because I'd have to give that a total "me too." I've always loved that, but it wasn't until last summer, when I was studying drawing faces, that I actually took note of what was going on there.

Oh, and speaking of noses, I am strangely-fascinated by noses with an upward curve along the ridge. There was a middle-eastern-looking porn star back in the eighties who had such a nose, and later on she had it straightened, and I was so disappointed. The new nose completely didn't fit the structure of her face.

Just curious, can you find a picture of what you're talking about?
Just curious, can you find a picture of what you're talking about?
No. Not really. Unless you can find a site that has a lot of pictures of different people in profile view, espicially if they are smiling. You can find anything you want on the inerwebs, but not that.
But look at this (http://z.about.com/d/movies/1/0/I/g/8/tiffany03290613.jpg) photo. It's extremely subtle, but look at Ellen, on the left. The line from the tip of her chin to her jowl is pretty much an uninterrupted line. Nothing breaks it up. Now look at Portia, on the right. There is a slight interruption there. It's hard to see from that angle, but there are two distinct parts to her jaw.
Here (http://www.advanced-art.com/submental/Submental-SAL.jpg) is a clearer example. The woman on the left has a more pronounced double chin.
Normally people who have a double chin would take great offense at being described as such. Google on "double chin" and you'll mostly get hits on how to surgically remove one (or other treatments). We normally associate them with the elderly and obese. But anyone, of any weight, age, gender, or race can have one. Some people only have them when they talk, eat, or smile.
Ah, here's a great example (http://photo.net/bboard-uploads/00B9kP-21883284.jpg) where some moron tried to "fix" this "flaw" using some photo-enhancing software.

I like a man with a prominent nose too. I think it makes a man look more masculine.
I also really enjoy the shape of a man's upper arms and upper back. Yesterday I was watching Season 3 of Veronica Mars and noticed that Jason Dohring, while plain in the face, has a very nice upper body proportion (http://www.givememyremote.com/remote/wp-content/uploads/2006/05/Jason%20dohring%20shirtless.jpg). No six pack, no ripped muscles, just solid upper arms and a very pronounced difference between the size of his shoulders and his waist. The shots of him from behind show it even better. I can get past the plain face for that.

I was reading something a while ago that said that shoulder-to-waist ratio for guys had very similar correlation to attractiveness as waist-to-hip ratio for women. So there may some very basic reasons why you find that hot :)

I have nothing to add that hasn't already been mentioned. I think a slightly-larger-than-average nose can be sexy on a woman. Not necessarily a big honker, just something a little more substantial than the common Hollywood/fashion model nose, which looks too small and pointy to me. I've always thought Anne Heche (http://artfiles.art.com/images/-/Anne-Heche-Photograph-C12146327.jpeg) has a nice nose, for example.

Sorry, I went a little woozy there for a moment. Jason Dohring is just...gah. Lovely. Lovely man. *drool*
And I agree. His is another neck I love, and the way it curves into his shoulders, and then the upswelling of the deltoid over the bicep....
Is it hot in here?
But I wouldn't say his lower half is entirely without charm, either. That bit on the front where the pelvis meets the hip - that valley that goes down into the groin? What's that called, anyway? It must have a name. Anyway, that's an awfully yummy bit on men, and on Dohring it's especially luscious.

Ankles. If a woman with slim pretty ankles wears something that shows them off, like a chain or ribbon or even a tattoo (though I don't normally like tattoos) then they get all my attention.
I also like to see flat stomachs, long necks, and strong arms, on a woman.
Unfortunately, women who have these features sure aren't interested in guys like me. Darn it.

His is a face that grows on you too. At first I thought he was not cute, just a hot bod, but he has very attractive facial expressions. He makes doe eyes at Veronica that would melt butter. I find that appealing too.

I suppose they're already pretty sexualized, but the one thing that gets me going on a lady more than anything else are the adductor muscles. You know, the "inner thigh" mucles right around the coochie, on the leg. If I have to pick another, though, it'll be arms. Good arms are surprising and always nice to see.

What in the name of the SDMB is a cumgutter? And is an Adductor something other than the usual definition? I need my ignorance fought.

Someone else mentioned it -- thighs. Muscular thighs, not the overbuilt weightlifter type, but the thighs of a man who can hike up and down mountains, have the musclepower for drive when drive is needed.
Large, capable hands. Though most of the men I know work with their minds, I like to see hands (and a body) that say the man can do a day's physical work if need be. Hands that could build a house, or chop wood, or rescue someone from a burning building. Hands that can close over a woman's hips and hold them authoritatively, yet with nimble fingers that can be gentle on other, more sensitive bits. Hands that...
<gulp> you get the idea...
Thank you for this thread. I've got a bit of a double chin that I always thought of as repulsive, yet two posters have mentioned they find such a characteristic appealing. Bless you forever, gents, you've made my day.
