I'm available Tuesday but not Wednesday. If I can make it this week, great, otherwise I'll see you next week.

Saltire

I'm available any day, as long as I know about it early enough. I'm finished moving, but we're still cleaning the old place. I already begged off to go to trivia tonight, but if you all are doing a different night, I could go scrub something after work today

By the way, my new place is near The Northside Grill (http://thenorthsidegrill.com/events.html), known for Tuesday trivia and Moroccan food. But that also means it's a lot more convenient to the Old Pequliar, so all is great.

I'm out tonight -- I've been up since 3am trying to get the child back to sleep, so my brain is barely functioning.

I'm available other nights, but I make no promises about my contribution capabilities.

Interrobang!?
08-05-2008, 12:08 PM
I'm definitely out tonight. It sounds like the rest of the week is dicey for people as well -- so should we bag it entirely? I hate to bail on Cervaise's last available night for a couple of months, but sacrifices must be made for the theater, I suppose.

inkysplotchy
08-05-2008, 12:28 PM
I can do either, but I'd need to know by 3ish if we're playing tonight so I know to leave practice early or not.

Cervaise

I hate to bail on Cervaise's last available night for a couple of months, but sacrifices must be made for the theater, I suppose. For what it's worth, the rehearsal schedule is currently clear for the Tuesday after next, also.

So I'm assuming we're off for tonight. See you next week.

Interrobang!?
08-06-2008, 06:26 PM
Apparently we missed out on a no-show host last night. (Curse you, Ashley!) Kevin borrowed a laptop and read 8 rounds off of a British quiz site, so there was trivia, but not the finely crafted trivia that's the OP at its best.

E. Thorp
08-12-2008, 10:47 AM
Host or no host, I can be there tonight if others can.

08-12-2008, 10:49 AM
I'm really looking forward to some trivia tonight. I sure hope others are, as well.

The BF and I might decide to come along and try this trivia thing. (He lives in Ballard, and we like trivia.)

It's the Old Pequliar at 8pm, right? Is there some sort of indentifying hand signal I should make?

ETA: We're not for definite though, as he has been quite busy with work lately.

stargazer
08-12-2008, 04:15 PM
Yep, the Old Pequliar at 8pm. There's no hand signal, but when you get there you can ask the quizmaster -- since that's our own Interrobang?!?!?!? tonight -- and he'll point you in our direction.

Hope you can make it! Fresh blood is always welcome. :)

MerryMagdalen
08-12-2008, 08:42 PM
Hmmm...it's not looking too good for us this week. BF thinks he may be coming down with "the SARS" and he hasn't called to tell me he's home from work.

Are you allowed to join a team once the game is in progress, or must you be there for signup to play?

If we don't make it tonight, we'll try to be there next week.

Saltire
08-12-2008, 09:09 PM
You can join in progress, as long as the team has space. 5 people per, y'know.

If you don't make it tonight, subscribe to the thread and think about coming another time. We'll be glad to have you.

MerryMagdalen
08-12-2008, 09:17 PM
Ok. I'm subscribing. Most likely we'll see you next week.

I don't have rehearsal tonight and am planning to be at the OP. I might be a little late, though, depending on how long the lines are at the polling location. They're claiming to expect 50+% turnout, so it could be long.

No for me this week; I'm solid in rehearsals until we open the second weekend of September.

But what I do have is a discount code for anybody who wants to order their tickets ahead of time and save two dollars each. I'll bring the details to trivia on the 16th; but that'll be after we open, so if anyone wants to come opening weekend, PM me and I'll reply with the code.

Does anyone read this thread after 5:00? I'll be there. Sounds like it's gonna be a two-team night! (Which is, I hasten to add for the newbies, a good thing.)

MerryMagdalen
08-26-2008, 07:14 PM
Yay! I have long dark hair, nose ring, lots of hoop earrings. Boyfriend is tall. I will try to give a sign. I think I'm bringing almost a whole team myself!

Cervaise
09-15-2008, 03:09 PM
I'm available Mon-Tue-Wed.

Also, heads up for the group, my girlfriend will be in town the last weekend in September, staying thru Mon eve, to see my show. I asked her if she'd be interested in doing pub quiz on Mon night (9/29), say at Mulleady's, so she can meet y'all. She sez sure. What say you?

How'd it go? Looks like a good quiz.

Cervaise
09-17-2008, 04:58 PM
It was decent. The questions were pretty good, a mix of head-scratchers and moderate puzzlers. We wound up scoring, what, 60 or 61, and came in second.

(ETA: The only rough spot was the delivery. There were several hosts, all taking a turn with a round or two, and they were pretty inconsistent; some not loud enough, some not clear enough, some not fast enough, some too fast. The material was fine but the presentation was wonky.)

We were really happy with the team name, too: "We Can See Russia From Our Table." Got one of the biggest laughs in the room.

E. Thorp
09-23-2008, 04:52 PM
Oh, sorry, I never did reply about Monday at Mulleady's. Doubly sorry that I won't be able to make it. Cervaise, are you sure your girlfriend doesn't want to change her return ticket, paying a few hundred extra dollars in fees, in exchange for meeting me on Tuesday?

I'm in tonight.

Since all the regular teams I've talked to are not planning on trivia next week, I think it should be canceled. I won't officially call it until I talk to the bar tonight, though. (I may ask Aaron to do a show of hands at the beginning to represent the non-Facebook-using contingent.)

Trivia is officially canceled for Election Day. Shocker.

I am officially going to see John Hodgman at Town Hall on Wednesday.

Anyone want to officially do a Monday or Thursday trivia night? Or Friday at Neptune Coffee? (Oh, wait, that's Seinfeld trivia night. Pass.)

inkysplotchy
10-31-2008, 12:12 PM
I'm up for Monday, out for Thursday unless my hip doesn't heal, in which case I'll not be fencing. Being single with no kids, I could sequester myself and watch every episode of Seinfeld I could get my hands on over the course of the next week, but that also might cast me back in time to the 90s.

Interrobang!?
10-31-2008, 12:15 PM
Wait! Hold the presses! Hodgman is Thursday night, not Weds. So I'm up for Monday or Wednesday.

All else being equal, I'd rather try someplace new, but let's figure out when works for everyone first.

I could do Monday night, but not Wednesday unless it's a kid-friendly place and trivia finishes by, say, 7pm, or unless it starts after 9pm, in which case it doesn't have to be kid-friendly.

...so, yeah, no Wednesday for me.

I can make it either night, but it kind of looks like the consensus is forming around tonight. Now we just need to decide where.

Personally, I'd like to stick to north Seattle--

Jabu's looks okay, but $10 entry fee.
Nabob doesn't (no cash, just money off the tab)
Lockspot seems interesting
Prost! is near my house, and has no team member-limit, but the format is unspecified
Finn McCool's isn't my taste (money off tab) and doesn't start until 9
The Boxcar doesn't have a page on Quiznight.net. I can't find any other source that says they still do trivia.
Then there's the places we've been before.

I vote for the Lockspot, I guess. Or Prost! Or Jabu's.

Yep, not wishy-washy at all.

Boxcar is on Quiznight, and does do trivia (http://www.myspace.com/boxcaralehouse), but on Tuesday nights, not Monday.

Is there enthusiasm for tonight, or just a willingness to do it? I'm probably able, but currently feeling uninspired.

I'd probably vote for Jabu's, because I figure a $10 entry fee means good possibility of big prizes.

On second thought, I'm out for tonight and for this week. We've got in-laws coming to town, and although they're not staying with us (thank god!) we've got stuff to do to get ready.

I'm a solid maybe for tonight. I'm at work, but my wife's at home with our daughter because school is closed for Veterans Day. If the day goes well, I'll be at trivia. If not, I'll be not at trivia. But I likely won't know until this evening, so if I'm there, I'm there.

Started going downhill yesterday and woke up this morning feeling like twenty pounds of hamburger left unrefrigerated on the counter for three days and then used to make meatballs rolled in kitty litter, and deep-fried in motor oil, the which were then trampled by a herd of consumptive yaks.

Baffling metaphor brought to you by too much Nyquil. Mmm, too much Nyquil.

If I can somehow get un-dog-like by the evening, I'll be there. But don't hold your breath. Actually, do hold your breath, because I'm pretty sure I'm highly contagious. And don't touch me, either.
