The rules are simple. Doper A quotes a post (or posts) without naming its author (or authors). Doper B, without using the seach feature, takes an educated guess as to the identify of the person quoted, and then adds another entry. If you're feeling nice (or lazy) you can spoiler-space your answers.
I'll start with three:
The methodology used for textual criticism differs in very little from that used for the collected documentary evidence for most other ancient cultures. I have at times criticized Diogenes (and to his credit he has accepted that criticism graciously) for phrasing his comments as if the JEPD and Q source theories were absolutely proven, not merely the most probable explanations from the material at hand. It is therefore most reasonable to presume that they are accurate explanations, within the limits of their own capabilities, as scholarly experts are agreed in general principles, though in dispute on detail. But, as Bible Man suggests, none of this constitutes proof in some absolute sense.
However, the onus, IMO, is on him to prove that the verbatim inspiration/ traditional authorship theories are to be accepted over and above the modern theories, that God or Moses was so schizoid as to write two variant explanations of the Red Sea Crossing using different names and methodologies for God.
1) Eat and drink all I want without getting fat or overly drunk
2) The ability to orgasm or cause orgasm in others upon command, with no need for down time.
3) I shall win all my card games by top-decking just the card I need at the last moment.
But, however pragmatic I seem, I’m an evil god-king. Taxes are high; dissent is crushed; virgins are despoiled; the SMDB is outlawed. The heads of my enemies adorn pikes in front of the royal palace. You get the picture. Last but not least, I’ve placed a dead-man switch in my brain, so that when I die, a nuclear warhead will be detonated in the center of the capital city. Said deadman switch will be activated whether my death is natural or not--so, since my death is obviously inevitable, it’s only a matter of time before Washington/London/insert-your-nation’s-capital-here gets obliterated. The existence of the deadman switch is not common knowledge, but somehow you learn of it.
