Who is more organized/tidy? You or your significant other?
This is in the sense that if you look at their car, their bedroom, their desk, etc, it is neat and tidy and there is no clutter in every corner.
I'd like to see if there is a trend, or whether things are equally balanced between the genders.
1) Who's more organized/tidy, you or your significant other?
2) Are you male or female?
3) Age range (20's, 30's, 40's, ...)

1) He is definitely tidier, although I'm more likely to notice/deal with dirt. (Or as I'd put it, he's neat, and I'm clean.)
2)I'm female
3) Late 20's

Me. If I wasn't around, he would live in an apartment full of cables and boxes. :p
Female.
30's.
I'm not a stellar housekeeper by any means! I'm a cluttered person too, but I have a somewhat higher standard than he does.
Her by another country mile, downhill to boot and recently regraded.
Male.
I'm 40s and she's a decade shy.

1) Who's more organized/tidy, you or your significant other?
I'm more organized; she is marginally more tidy. I can usually find what I want fairly quickly, but my desk is a mess and my file system is to put the most often used files in the front of the drawer. She puts things away, but forgets where she puts them, leading to long searches.
2) Are you male or female?

My significant other is incomparably tidier and more organized, which is really bad as I'm single and can already tell you this about without having met them yet or even knowing if they exist.

1) Him, always has, always will be. But I have managed to bring him down a bit closer to my level. By the same token he has made me slightly neater. I just don't see dirt or mess most of the time. And we really don't want to talk about my car or my desk. Really. As for my office at work, I need a shovel.
2) Female
3) Both 50's

It is about equal. We both have a tendency to let things pile up but we both seem to realize it needs cleaned up about the same time.
I am female
I am 39, he is 45.

I am. I really wish I knew how to get her to do chores on a regular basis, as many fights have been spawned over the topic. She folds laundry and occationally puts it away. I do dishes, trash, vacuuming, wash laundry, bathroom, and general pickup. It just wouldn't get done otherwise.

I'm 24, she's 21.

I'm female and 37, my husband's 50-something, and he's lots neater than me. He just likes to work and it carries over into whatever needs to be done. I can't relax while he's cleaning, so it makes me pitch in too, and that's cool because otherwise I'd let things pile up.
Now, ask me if the kids help! Not unless I chase them around with a bullwhip.

Although he is miles ahead of where he used to be. I would say he is more tidy than average. With an infant and a toddler our house gets destroyed quickly, but it is restored quickly too. Rinse, repeat.

However, I do all the laundry, and the dishes....[ok I load and unload the dishwasher]
I always blame my complex-chaos-theory-mind on my clutters.... :D

1. Me, by a long shot. She does half a load of dishes or starts the laundry a few times a week. She does vacuum every other day or so, but with a 2 year old who likes to feed the dog, it needs to be done at least once a day. I do everything else, and it pisses me off to no end. She'll tell me to leave dishes for her to do, but when I do, I just end up with a bigger pile for the next night. I need to be outside cutting firewood, building a fence, getting the garden ready, or doing one of the million other things that she can't (won't) do, and here I am washing dishes while she "watches" the kid (= reads a book or watches tv), who is off entertaining herself as usual. She constantly promises to help out with chores, but does very little.
2. Male.
3. Both Mid-30's
Maybe this should go in the pit!

We're about even - fairly cluttery but I think I get frustrated with it before he does, leading me to tidy up more often.
I'm female, late 20s, he's early 30s.

1. I'm the neat one. I do the laundry on the weekends and he does it occasionally on his weekdays off. I Swiffer the floors and do general pickup. We try to alternate cooking/dishwashing duty. But what it comes down to is I care more, so I clean more.
2. Female.
3. We're both 30.

Around my house clutter is kind of like a sand dune. It creeps in a bit here and there and I don't really notice it. I still know where everything is so it doesn't worry me.
SO will grab a shovel and then I'll notice and pitch in. We're making progress on my former bachelor pad.
Me: male, 40ish
Her: 30something.

I'm more organized; she is marginally more tidy. This is close. My girlfriend (I'm a dude) has a spotless house, car, etc, but her life is a mess: chronically late for everything, overdue taxes, general disorganization. A week ago she got a piece of mail that reminded her she has a bank account she'd forgotten she opened, for Pete's sake. By contrast, my house is tidy but cluttered, along with my car and such; however, I have my life obligations in order, I know where everything is, I'm punctual, I don't lose stuff, etc. So without a better definition of the terms of the poll, I'd say we're more or less tied.
We're both late 30's.

I'd say, overall, I'm neater and more organized than my wife. I'm definitely more anti-clutter, though I'm by no means a neat freak. I'm more vigilant about dishes, she's more vigilant about laundry and the bathtubs.
I'm male, we're both in our late 30s.

Me, definitely. I'm not a tidiness freak, but I'll put stuff in trash bins instead of leaving it all over the damn place, and I clean up after myself, especially in the bathroom. How can he miss those hundreds of little black hairs in the sink after he trims his beard? Does he think the little black hair fairies will come and get them?
We're both 63.

I'm more organized/tidy in a traditional sense than my husband; however, he's got a better handle on where his stuff is than I have on mine.
I'm better about putting things away, but I don't put them away in the same place every single time, something I'm working on right now (mostly by getting something to put odds and ends in, receipts, unread/read mail, etc. and having designated spots for things like keys).
My husband is absolutely awful about putting things away - he even leaves kitchen cabinets open after he's pulled out a dish. His mess frequently makes me nuts. But, even though his things appear untidy compared to mine, he knows where everything is and doesn't have to have a set place to put things.
We're both in our early 30s and are trying to organize our house so there's a place for everything - we think it'll make it easier for our son to learn to put his things away, too.

My SO does the same thing. I'm forced to conclude that yes, they do think the hair fairies* will clean it up.
He will also put empty boxes back into the cabinet or refrigerator. He'll use up all the butter or eat the last granola bar, and then will be compelled to put the totally empty piece of trash that was once full of edible substances but no longer is back where he found it. I don't know why.

My wife's physical space is tidier and more organized than mine.
My mental space, OTOH, is tidier and more organized than hers.
We can drive each other batty with ease. :)
Oh, I'm 41. She's 38.
