Need help with book title re explaining death to a child

Good Morning. A 7 yr old friend lost her teacher recently to suicide and is not doing well. i read a wonderful book about 2 yrs ago which helped children understand death - this is the closest subject i could find on the discussion board - the book described a young boy (prince?) who was sent on a journey in a magical world to find knowlege, eventually ended up in the heavens. He started the trip on a river, spoke with animals, etc. My best memory of
the title is Emil's Magic Journey, but it does not show up on any searches. Cannot remember the author, although for some reason though it was a woman. Anyone know this book? Thank you

I don't know about that specific book, but here is one I found when my grandfather died early this year.

My father brought home a booklet for kids and a parent's guide given to him by the hospice where my grandfather died. They deal with the subject pretty well. It is called "When Death Happens" by Jim & Joan Boulden. Again, this isn't the Emil book, but my mom always recommends "The Fall of Freddie the Leaf" by Leo Buscaglia for her patients and their familes (she's a Hospice nurse). The ISBN is 0805010645 and it costs about $10 at Barnes and Noble.
