A question for Smartt

Smartt, I've never met an editor of a pornmagazine. What do you do? Is there an editorial board to help you? Do you have fact-chechers? One of my sons is an editor for a bisiness newsletter. I have some ideas of what he does. But what exactly you do? Do you decide, for instance, that somebody tits do not measure up to December? Maybe in June? Or that a certain position appeared too often lately and the readers (or is it viewers? or watchers? What do you call them?) are tired, and something new is in order? Share with us. Do yoy have you own photographers?

I thought that his occupation was rare and unusual and some Sdopers would be interested too. But if you are not interested or know enough already about pornmagazines, I'll shut up. The mods here usually make decisions about questions' appropriateness, not Arjunas.

New here, but what am I missing? It seems that Arjuna has been around here a longer time? Are you a cloaked moderator? Who is Smartt? Is he/she on trial for something? Is Arjuna in fact Smartt? Very confusing!

Smartt has recently told us that he is editing a Brazilian pornmagazine. As I said, I never knew anyone in that area and wanted to know more. Hyreractive Arjuna implied that she was not interested. On her own, she found Smartt address. I thought that if I was the only one interested, the thread would die a natural death.

I'm sorry that I completely misinterpreted your post, peace. There have been many people questioning whether Smartt is in fact an editor of a Brazilian porn magazine, or just a 13-year kid. I didn't realize anyone seriously believed he is in fact a porn magazine editor. I assumed (mistakenly) that your OP was in jest, or some kind of attack on him, and in any case didn't think you really meant to get an actual answer about editing port magazines.

I can see that I completely misread your post- again, I apologize.

After having read your reply, I got the impression that you were asking for someone to volunteer Smartt's email address. I didn't get that you were probably being sarcastic, which was probably not out of line given how you must have intepreted my first post (which I posted after completely misreading your original intent) I sure hope that made sense!

Anyway, to clear up a couple of things:

3. I've been around a while, but I'm a moderator.

Well, in Latin, words that end in -a are generally first declensions and feminine. If you were masculine, you would be Arjunus. Actually, I guess that would probably be Ariunus, since they didn't have a j then.

Of course, I suppose your user name might be something other than Latin, but that would just be stupid, hence I declare that you must be female. ;)

Arjuna, no apology needed. I must be plain and naive, took this forum for what it looked like: "ask a question - get an answer". It turns out, it's not that simple. Anyway, there was nothing behind my question. I might (and actually was in this thread) be tongue-in-cheek, but I wasn't. If Smartt is unavailable now, I can wait, in Quasar's company, till he grows up and becomes a porn editor or till a real one pops up here.

Somebody suggested literally what happened here: if you inadvertantly "misgender", you'll be corrected, no hard feelings. Really? That's a pretty big assumption. A random sample of statistical sites found that in Austria, England, and Israel, the percentage of female medical doctors is currently 35%, and the percentage of female medical students in training in all three countries is 50%, meaning that the ratio is evening out. IIRC, these are the percentages in the U.S. as well.

Of course I don't think that "Dr. Doom" refers to a medical degree, so your gender assumption is even less relevant in this case.

Now I feel like a complete moron. I assumed from the tone of your initial reply to my pseudo-serious request that you were REALLY providing a veritable link. After reading Chronos’ reaction I assumed that, judging by the name of the link, he must have changed it.

Anyway, I now realize that since I didn’t induce anyone to post any porn I should not have apologized. So I am formally withdrawing my apology and pleading to all dopers not to send any porn to my e-mail address. Although I really wouldn’t mind if any of you did. :)

I now zilch about editing porno magazines but I cant tell you this, Hugh Hefner’s bunch is doing a lousy job in the US. Way too many articles and few picture galleries. The Mexican version of Playboy contains a much more ample supplement of pictures than its American counterpart.

I really have no idea why they waste so much space on articles that detract from the pictorial quality of the magazine. Everyone I talk to feels the same way. Maybe Playboy should hire Smartt as their new editor. :D

Oh yes, I don’t buy Playboy. Fortunately, on occasion a friend of mine will, or someone might goodheartedly drop a nice link to a porn site in my e-mail address. Gotta go now, it’s been a while since I last checked my inbox. :D
