Help me please, I'm losing sleep over this one!!!
Who invented whistling? More to the point, what was he doing to make him think 'Oh, let me put my fingers in my mouth, wrap my tongue back and blow... oh what a great sound !!'?

I believe his name was Franz.

I could be wrong.

whistling wasn't invented until humans were technologically advanced enough to build houses. With the advent of the construction worker, so came the whistle (and that weird lady in the rocking chair).

Oh I see, so it was a construction worker called franz.
But what made him stick his fingers in his mouth and blow? I find it much easier to just howl and yell ' Allo Darlin!!!'

seriously, I don't think we can know who invented whistling, just as we can't know who invented singing, speech, or theatre, or the Goerge Foreman grill.

just one of those things we've been doing for oh so long.
