View Full Version : The European Feud by Worm the Red [Game Over]
Dolores Reborn

If any of you have ideas for Feuds -and would like me to score them- PM me and I'll get you on The List.
DO NOT READ THIS THREAD BEFORE YOU POST YOUR ANSWERS
Try to think of the most popular answer, to get the most people matching you. Scoring - Any answer duplicated by anyone else is worth 100 points divided by the number of entrants. For example: 50 entrant game = 2 pts per answer. If 4 people match that means they each get 8 pts for that answer. No matches = 0 points.
*****FORMATTING OF ANSWERS IS IMPORTANT!*****
Write your answers like this; Do not repeat the questions, no periods at the end of answers, no spaces between lines, no comments, no fancy list coding. If you need to comment or clarify your answers, do it AFTER the list of answers. Thanks.
JUST LIKE THIS:
1. answer <<---There is a space after the period!
2. response
3. rejoinder
The game will end either when we have 50 entrants, or at 4:30 PM Central on Saturday, 8/02/08 whichever comes first.
Good luck!

I'm very disappointed that everyone's taking the easy way out and naming British rock stars, rather than ones from the continent, which is a bit more tricky.

there's nothing 'easy about that. The UK is in Europe, not in Asia, Africa, Oceania, Antarctica or the Americas. Simple as that. There even one of the earlier members of the aptly named 'European Union'. No Brit exceptionalism here.

Czechoslovakia. Not Checho or Chezcho. Certainly not Czechoslavia (5-4-fighting) or Checkosalvacia (Zebra). Czechoslovakia. It's where the Czechs and the Slovaks used to live.

Not to derail your feud, but the spelling of words such as Czech and Czechoslovakia with 'cz' is still done English, but not in Czech, or at least, not Czech for the last 150 or so years. The 'cz' thing is something you see in modern Polish, which has a spelling system that's lightyears apart from the Czech system. And actually, when you learn something about these languages, you'll find that they're actually using pretty sensible systems (esp. when comparing to English) that no vodka-drinker could ever have devised.

To end the hijack with my final post of the day (since I'm about to hit the office door running). I fully acknowledge that I neither know Czech, nor Polish but it just looks so completely strange to me. Especially Polish, with all the "zwj" and consonants mushed together.
My misconception is completely based on ignorance, which I fully acknowledge and I do apologize if I came on somewhat harsh on those languages.
It was not meant as anything but a "wise ass joke".

If I had got in on time I would have been at about 29th or 30th. I knew answers for all of the questions, its just that I was picking second place too often. Grumble, grumble.

Whew! A tie for 7th place ... that is certainly much better than last place. :D Thank you, WormTheRed for the feud and Rebo for all her hard work!
