The gracious moderators have given me approval to announce the opening of my personal website, Aahz.com (http://www.aahz.com/aahz/index.php).

Two webpage based games have been made available, Chessers and Testimony, offering you the chance to play something new and original with your friends at a leisurely pace over days or weeks or months.

Chessers (http://www.aahz.com/aahz/index.php?page=chessers_rules) is a variation on standard chess, taking some cues from computer strategy games in adding things like geographical features that can help or impede progress, fog of war to simulate the uncertainty of wartime engagements, and spies who feed you information on your opponent's positions. But unlike strategy games, it still has the underlying simplicity of a board game, distilling real life warfare into a chess-like approximation.

Testimony (http://www.aahz.com/aahz/index.php?page=testimony_rules) combines diceless roleplay with Clue. You and your fellow players (a minimum of three) are suspects in a horrible crime, but now seek to determine which of you is the guilty party by playing the parts of witness, defendent, prosecutor, and jury. For each piece of information you testify about, you will seek to railroad one of your opponents into guilt, or via careful study and meticulous research, you can prove that one of the other players has been lying to the "court". This game is entirely a battle of wits and cunning.

As well as these two games, I will shortly be releasing a fantasy novel, proceeded by a real time multiplayer gaming application, a webcomic, and other works. Aahz.com also allows you to create your own homepage via the inbuilt WikiScript and 500KB of filespace for images or stories, or whatever you wish to share with others. Soon you will be able to have an entire private wiki to do with as you wish, with the goal being to appeal to others and make friends to play games with. A full list of things currently planned are available at this link (http://www.aahz.com/aahz/index.php?page=forum&forum_page=3&forum=1&thread=2&offset=0#2).

I will note that there's only me behind this, and I have done my best to test the webpage, but apologies in advance if you do find anything that's not quite perfect. Rest assured that I will seek to fix any issues you have in short order.

And don't hesitate to make suggestions for improvements to the games. They've never been played before!

I popped in for a look, and it's got great potential! Can't wait to see the stuff that's coming soon.

Are you trying to reach a wide base with this project? If so, can I link to it on my LJ/MySpace/Facebook? Or is it super special just for us? ;)

Ah, yeah this will ideally become my bread and butter, so yeah extra linkage is great. I will have Project Wonderful advertising on the webpage once I get enough views per day for them to accept me.

I might ask that you wait a few days to pimp for me (like maybe till this weekend) so that Dopers can find any egregious bugs. ;)

Looks pretty neat. When I have more time I'll have to give Chessers a chance. Are the games original to you? Or are they modified from somewhere else?

Because I want to put together a web games guide on my site (in my signature) and they definitely sound unique.

Unique so far as I'm aware.

...so that Dopers can find any egregious bugs. ;)
This is the first site I've registered on that, when I type in the password I've chosen, show the full word, not masked by asterisks.

And, from the Doper Grammar Police:

The River
Wending it's way from the upper right corner of the green quadrant, the river divides the bottom left quarter of the map. No piece can land on a square that the river is on. Due to this, rooks have no way of crossing the water.
There's a problem at the start of that first sentence. Do you see it? Can you fix it. (So my face stops twitching? ;))

I've now added a full novel (approximately 150 pages) to the website. Reading it is entirely free.

The Children's Epic (http://www.aahz.com/aahz/index.php?page=fiction) is the story of four children living in an insane world where adulthood brings an insanity marked by an obsession with pleasure and excess. As they try to escape with as many other children as they can, hoping to find some new place that is safe from the seeming curse, they find that they must fight for their lives as well.

I hope everyone will check it out, and of course play the games. :)
