Yo, fans of the old classic Sierra's Quest for Glory games may want to check this remake of the game for modern PCs. (http://www.agdinteractive.com/about/media/about_media_snd.html)
A fan-based group has updated the graphics for the game to 1024 millions colours, fixed various bugs, improved the combat system and an updated digital soundtrack to this old classic.

I've been waiting for this game since about 2003. I can't believe they actually released it. They've been promising it since 2001 or so.
As soon as I finish Okami(I just started), I'll play it.

QFG2 was the only one of the series to never get a VGA release and it's my personal favorite of the series. I'd even argue that it is the best single game Sierra ever published.
I see that the "1024 million colors" actually looks like gradients applied to the EGA screens but I'm willing to dive in anyway. :)

When one game was called Hero's Quest and the other four plus the remake are called Quest for Glory I think you've been outnumbered. :)

They also changed to the point and click system for conservations and game-play like the rest QFG 3 and 4; the parser is still there if you wish for the old school feel :)
I never played QFG 2 before; I am wondering about the combat system but first I have to dig up my old QFG 1 save files! (Yes, it does import them and export them for use in later games in the series).

Seconded. QFG 4 makes me feel more like a hero ever more than any other in the series.
And vampires are just...wow...cool :)
Especially when you have all sort of European myths mixed into it.

I think this game being completed is one of the impending signs of the apocalypse, it's been that long!!!! Got it downloading now, woo hoo!
I agree that QFG4 was the best in the series, absolutely loved that game.

I can't get past the character creation screen. It says I have 50 points available, which I presume can be used to customize my character's stats, but the values don't respond to any keystroke or mouse-movement. Attempting to advance beyond the screen gets a warning that I still have points available.

Have you tried right clicking over the stat you want to raise. At least that's how the updated version of QFG1 worked.

I really have to say that this is a game which would turn off causal players nowadays. I mean, the navigating of the city is a big no-no, but once you have bought the map, moving around the city is not that painful.
It seems that the city is deliberately lay-out this way as copy-protection. For your sanity, do check out a map of the city within the ACS pdf file and head straight to the Dinar street and the money-exchanger, and buy the map at the Plaza of the Gate immediately. Once you have done so, you can always press CTRL+R to bring up the map and zoom to visited locations by clicking on them
Not stellar game design by today standards, but hey it was an old game...

How the hell do you fight? The keys, they do nothing! Clicking brings up a useless menu! Eaten again by a scorpion!

Visit the Adventurer's Guild at the Plaza of the Fighter (I think so) to get a tutorial.
Basically, switch of Numlock and use the following controls:
1 - dodge left
2 - back down/jump/crouch
3 - dodge right
4 - block
5 - kick
6 - parry
7 - swing
8 - advance
9 - thrust
QWASD are reserved for spells...

Awesome! Quest For Glory used to be my favorite series- probably one of the few games I ever actually played on a regular basis. I'm peeved that I have a Mac without Windows and can't play this immediately- but this has given me an excuse to go and GET Windows. I'm excited!

I took a peek at the FAQ...yah, the game has a timed feel to it; it's not like QFG1 where you can do a lot of things at once (if you know all the key locations and avoid being killed at the same time) and you have to wait for certain key events to happen (which are timed) before you can proceed. I am completely lost as to what I am supposed to do know so I figure I just go ahead and train, train, train.

I'm glad you posted this. I've been waiting for this for YEARS, but was doubting it would ever be released. I'd checked the site just a few days before this thread and seen that it had been redesigned in anticipation of the game's release, but thought "I'll believe it when I see it" and probably wouldn't have looked again for months.
Instead I've been playing it all weekend. :)
The combat system leaves a lot to be desired, but at least it is possible to remap the keys used for different moves. I'm on a laptop with no number pad, so trying to use the preset key commands was really awkward.

And almost half of that is just climbing a damn tree to build up a stat. Though this person didn't defeat Baba Yaga, but still...
