View Full Version : What are you eagerly awaiting?

As a huge fan of the half-life series I am eagerly awaiting a trillogy in four parts...

Half Life, the original, remastered (can't remember the name for it. It's the original half life made to look like half life 2)

The game for which Portal was basically a proof-of-concept.

The final instalment of the half life episodes.

The 'unofficial' Portal Prequel - "Portal Prelude"

I am also awaiting GTA4 PC.

The latest Splinter Cell Game (the one where he's a fugitive)

This does not have to be about computer games... What are you eagerly awaiting?

The zombie movie, Quarantine.

The season finale of Project Runway. (But NOT when said show moves to Lifetime. I'm unawaiting that.)

Hmmmm....

I hate to say this, but the new Harry Potter movie. I am bummed it was moved back.

My daughter coming home for Christmas.

The election-if only so that the bickering and nonsense stuff (aka campaigning) can end.

My Scrabble Beta partners to make their next moves so that I can win! ;)

Narnia Movies V, VI, VII- I can make do with the PBS-BBC versions of III & IV but Ah gots to have me some Narnian Genesis & Apocalypse!

And whatever Batman movie is forthcoming.

And The Hobbit & the other mystery LOTR movie.

And 2013 (the actual year, so I don't have to listen to any more 2012 nonsense.)

And the Rapture.

There. That's it.

I was feeling pretty meh about The Curious Case of Benjamin Button from seeing the trailer. But since I discovered that it will be a David Fincher film, I'm feeling rather hopeful.

The main movie I'm waiting for is Battle Angel (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0437086/), though it's not set to release for three more years at least.

Persona 4. In the month since I started playing 3 (after holding off for a long while because that sheer amount of "Japanese-ness" usually turns me off), I am a TOTAL convert, and that's probably the only game through the end of this year that will be a first day buy for me.

For movies, it's Quantum of Solace and then everything else.

There's a probe going up in March with a camera good enough to do it. My grandfather worked on the LEMs at Grumman. So I grew up knowing that something my grampa touched is on the moon. Can't wait to see that.

LHC results (when they fix their magnets)

The new Bond flick looks like it'll be good. Actually, somewhat depressingly, that's the only movie I've heard about that I'm excited for.

I'm contemplating holding off on reading any more Ice and Fire books till he's finished the series, since I'm starting to loose track of the characters between books and its too long to reread the whole series every time a new book is released, so I guess I'm eagerly awaiting the last of book of that series so I can read the whole thing (though at the current rate I may be dead before the last book rolls off the press)

On the plus side, I just got Anathem by Neal Stephenson, which I've been eagerly awaiting for a year or so.

Fallout 3 - I know it's not all that true to the first two, which I play/played to death and still love, and I know oblivion was beautiful but a little boring, but it still looks like a fun game.

GTA4 on the PC - It will be sweet if they remove that really disappointing distance blur the PS3 version uses.

Diablo III - Diablo II must be in my top 5 list of games that I've wasted my life on.

Starcraft II - It's been a while since I've found a fun RTS game, I think Supreme Commander or Sins Of A Solar Empire was the last one. As long as the new race doesn't ruin the balance then it might be the best ever. It might even topple AoE2 as my favourite.

There are a couple of RPGs on the horizon that look promising too. I can't remember their names atm though. I think Dragon Age was one of them.

I recognise that PC gaming isn't quite as rosy as it used to be but there's still a lot for me to look forward to.

Looking Forward to

Release of David Cook’s album. He was this year’s winner of “American Idol”. Yeah, I watched the last few shows of last season, and the guy is very talented. He won with his integrity intact (which is hard for that show), his winning moments were darn good TV, and I’m not ashamed to say his is one Cinderella story I can really get behind.

New Jame Bond movie!

Next season of “Lost”

Episodes of “Big Bang Theory”, “House”.

This does not have to be about computer games... What are you eagerly awaiting?

The fulfillment of my dream. I love, LOVE to read, and I've always wanted to pass that love to other adults. When I finally retire, I plan to take teaching classes at the local community college, then volunteer everywhere I can to teach adult literacy.

My husband works at an adult high school & deals with fuctioning-level illiteracy. I want to work with those adults (young & otherwise) who want to advance.

I look forward to the day when I can go back to school so I can help others.

A Memory of Light, the final book of The Wheel of Time.

It's being finished by Brandon Sanderson, and I've read some of his books and really liked them (Mistborn in particular). And whatever you might say about the slow pace and general crappiness of books 6 through 10, the high points of that series are VERY high.
