2nd Most Popular Classic Male Actor Movies
DO NOT READ THIS THREAD BEFORE YOU POST YOUR ANSWERS
Object of the game: Try to think of the most popular answer, to get the most people matching you. Google is allowed, if you desire. Only answers that are "serious" will be scored. Joke answers will not be considered, as it is not fair to other players.
Scoring - Any answer duplicated by anyone else is worth 100 points divided by the number of entrants. For example: 50 entrant game = 2 pts per answer. If 4 people match that means they each get 8 pts for that answer. No matches = 0 points.
If any of you have ideas for Feuds -and would like me to score them- PM me and I'll get you on The List. (http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=478936&page=2)
*****FORMATTING OF ANSWERS IS IMPORTANT!*****
Write your answers like this; Do not repeat the questions, no periods at the end of answers, no spaces between lines, no comments, no fancy list coding. If you need to comment or clarify your answers, do it AFTER the list of answers. Thanks.
JUST LIKE THIS:
1. answer <<---There is a space after the period!
2. response
3. rejoinder
The game will end either when we have 50 entrants, or at 4:00 PM Central on Tuesday, 12/16/08 whichever comes first.
Good luck!

I have to admit, I'm only the most shallow of film historians. I thought that OTW was Brando's first really big role, that brought him major public attention.

I thought that OTW was Brando's first really big role, that brought him major public attention.Brando already had 3 Oscar nominations under his belt by the time Waterfront came out. Essentially, Streetcar put him on the map, and there he stayed for more than a decade.

Hey, at least you're not sitting here wondering, "How the Hell did I forget Cape Fear and Rear Window?" :D
Well, my reasoning was, "I'm probably only thinking of those two because I like suspense/horror--people will probably go with other choices." Still, a fun feud.
Rebo, has anyone else done a feud like this but for more modern actors? (I'm assuming someone's done a classic movies feud female already.)
Dolores Reborn
12-16-2008, 03:23 PM
Not that I remember, but they're all a blur for me anyway... :D I definitely don't remember a classic movies female. Check the Feud List linked in the OP for the most recent ones.

I love the old movies, and liked this feud. We definitely need a feud for classic actresses.
Hepburn (x2), Davis, Garland, DeHavilland, Field, Crawford, Andrews, Taylor, Rodgers, Bergman, are ten classic actresses that I can think of, but I don't know what would be their most famous movie.
Well I think I can think of Judy Garland's most famous movie.
Freudian Slit
12-16-2008, 03:47 PM
It's something to think about. I don't think I know enough about old movies to do an actress counterpart, but I'll try and work on a more modern one. Or maybe even a director's one.

Actually, to be good at Feuds, you have to be able to guess which answers are going to be the most popular. Something that often does NOT coincide with your own favorite answer. At least, that's how it works for me. Like my favorite Bogey movie is the one with Lauren Bacall, the first they made together when they fell in love. She's only 21, I think, when that movie was made (maybe even younger!) and he's so much older than she, but man do they have sexual chemistry out the wazoo!! Hot couple indeed. I think that's "To have and Have not," but my poor addled brain can't remember very well any longer. And Gregory Peck ... swoon, you need to see "The Big Country," which no-one answered (and I figured that, unfortunately); but that's a great movie! A western, yes, and it also has Charlton Heston. If you have Turner Classic Movies, try to catch it next time it's on there; it's fantastic, and you'll probably recognize the music. :) (Well, maybe if you're in my age group! LOL).
But thanks for the feud, I really loved playing this one. :)

Same film.
Good catch. I'll fix it in the morning. I'm getting sloppy, aren't I? Work has been kicking my butt, and I'm going too fast in compiling answers.
You'll be glad to know, tomorrow afternoon I start vacation. I'm off for almost three weeks, and will be able to devote more attention to the Feuds!

Oh, I'm just kidding. I have no one to blame for my shitty score but myself!
Interestingly, if I had gone with my second choice for Brando (The Wild One), or for John Wayne chosen either of the two films I've actually seen within the past two years (The Long Voyage Home and Fort Apache), my score would have been exactly the same.
