Yup. I thought I hinted at that directly enough in the last post but it was obviously more clear in my own mind. Those four accounts were the same guy. When warmgun got banned years ago, he started a thread about it with another one of his socks, and he did the same thing today. I guess he thought nobody would suspect it.

Usually these go in ATMB, so I'm going to merge the threads and move them there.

There's no connection between Merkwurdigliebe and the stuff today with Don't fight the hypothetical. I found Merkwurdigliebe had a few sock accounts last week when he registered a new one.

Don't fight the hypothetical outed three of his socks by accident this week when he started that mouthwash thread twice. I found a third account at that time. Don't fight the hypothetical then started a thread to ask about those bannings, which was a tipoff - he'd done that before under other names.

We don't usually go into this stuff, but I did announce Merkwurdigliebe's banning because he was on the board a long time. And this whole thing is pretty confusing so it merits an explanation.

I think we explored most of the potential reasons in that thread. The only one we ignored was insanity. :p Unlike most of the other socks I've seen around here, this guy actually did sometimes use a second account to agree with himself.

This reminds me of a hilarious thing that happened on another forum. We were playing a "Bastard Mod" mafia game, and the mod had registered another account to play in the game to add to the confusion, but before the game started, he forgot which account he was using and made a reference to being the mod while using the new account. :D
