With my first husband, our song was "Why Don't We Get Drunk and Screw" by Jimmy Buffet - a song about a drunk and a hooker who get together.:smack:

So Romantic, isn't it? But he loved Jimmy Buffett and y'know - it happened.

My Dewey and I don't necessarily have a "song" but there are definitely songs that make me think of how much he loves me and I love him. (Ingrid Michelson's "Take me the way I am" for example)

I had a friend tell me once that he always thinks of me when he hears "Paralyzer." Now every time I hear it - I think of him.

When I hear the hymn, "In the Garden" an image of my mom singing it so enthusiastically always pops in to my head.

And personally, I'm a "Video" girl (India.Arie).

What about you - what are the songs in your life?

Our song is "Sunshine on my Shoulders." I know, how cheesy, huh? ;)

We had been dating about 3-4 months, and we took a road trip to his home town of Daytona Beach. It was lovely and romantic, and one night at dusk he started singing that song to me at dusk, on the beach... off key and screwing up the words. It made me cry with happiness while giggling, and still does.

Whenever I hear "Rhiannon," I think of my best bud here at work. He's a huge Fleetwood Mac fan.

I have many songs that make me think of people, or times in my life. Of course, I can't think of any right now. ;)

My 2 songs are Louie, Louie,, the Kingsmen version, and Ace of Spades by Motörhead. They are the two greatest pop/rock songs ever written, and I have instructions for both to be played at my funeral/wake/going away party.

Anything Pink Floyd. We connect on that level for some reason. We "get" the same stuff each other gets in the songs.

"Brown Eyed Girl" is a favorite of my wife's and I because, well, she's my brown eyed girl. First dance at wedding reception was to "What a Wonderful World." I've been learning to play guitar, so I learned both of those early on. I serenaded her with "What a Wonderful World" earlier this month on our 11th anniversary.

Yeah, I'm a big sap!

Definitely Ben Folds' "The Luckiest" (http://www.lyricstime.com/ben-folds-the-luckiest-lyrics.html)

I'm getting a lump in my throat right now.

For some unknown reason, Dan Fogleberg's "Run For the Roses." I dunno, somehow it makes both of us feel good (not too romantic maybe ...)

"California Stars," lyrics by Woody Guthrie and music by Billy Bragg and Wilco. It was the song for our first dance at our wedding.

My husband sent me the song "From This Moment" by Shania Twain, of course, it was the Mutt Lange uptempo remix. Lately? I'm tending towards "Fidelity" by Regina Spektor. Actually, a lot of her stuff.

My daughter? Since I found out she was a she, "Little Miss Magic" by Jimmy Buffett, all the way.

One of my more noticeable features is big, brown eyes, yet, I've never once, been anyone's "Brown Eyed Girl."

Me either.

My ex and I used to drop everything and start dancing whenever The Cure's "Love Song" was on the radio or was played at a party. Now I have to change the station whenever it comes on.

The song he never dedicated to me, and which I have loved and wish someone would play for me someday, is "Right Down The Line" by Gerry Rafferty. I just love that song, corny as it is.

My GF and I don't really have "our song", but at my funeral I want "Tonight We Fly" by The Divine Comedy and "Strawberry Fields Forever" played. I'd throw Husker Du's "Celebrated Summer" in there, too, except it doesn't seem to fit.

Just started. Last week. At the end of the class, the teacher said we'd learn a song, but we might not recognize it, and he played some chords. Then he said we'd recognize it if he played the intro, and it was Brown Eyed Girl.

So pretty soon, I'll have the song, at least. Still need the girl.

Extremely corny, but for 21-odd years, our song has been 'You Are My Sunshine'. And 'Brown-Eyed Girl' has been for our daughter.

Echh.. Brown Eyed girl by Van Morrisson was the song my mom played non-stop during her most depressed and drunken weeks after she divorced my dad. That song drove me nuts and to this day I can't hear it without my hackles raising.
