Does Tom Mcan really give a free pair of shoes to a poor child for every pair they sell?

Do you mean TOMS Shoes (http://www.tomsshoes.com/)? As far as I know, yes, they do give one pair of shoes to needy children for every pair they sell. At least I haven't seen anything indicating that they're lying (or stretching the truth) when they say that, and I've read several articles about them recently. I've been thinking of buying a pair myself...

That explains it. I only heard about on the tube, and I didn't go to the other room to see what it was about.
I grew up during a time when there were Tom McAn shoe stores everywhere. I assumed.
