BTW, Crazy strikes again. The Saturday evening freeroll is now pot limit Razz, with 8-minute levels, paying only the top 48. Still over 3000 entrants, though.

I busted out with a 7-high, thinking my opponent had at least an 8-high, when he apparently had a better 7-high.

Anybody play these games? I had of couple of great starting hands, like A24, but a second 2 is useless, right?

Gather around, children. Let me tell you a story of a sad poker game.

See, it started one balmy summer evening. Missy, after missing a week, was excited to play poker with the guys as she had missed them. When she logged on she saw that Yeti and Dag were registered, but that was it. Kind of sad that it would be a small game, she still dug in her cyber pockets for a shiny dime and a slightly banged up penny. A few minutes before the game she saw that Oslo registered too - goodie! I mean it would have been nice if others had appeared, but she was content.

Then the game started. Hmm, Dag and Yeti were bots. Now, she read the thread and knew Dag would be botting, but didn't know Yeti was all shiny metal clad. Oslo and Missy blinded the bots quietly. Seriously, the chat room was open but no one was talking. Missy managed a few swipes at Oslo and the bots were down to about 800 chiparoonies.

[cue music: the song when the bad guy enters the room]

Yeti, after sating himself with dinner, decided to show up. Oslo, being the nice guy he is, proffered Yeti Dag's blinds. Missy agreed. Yeti decided, with full stomach, to run the f*$% out of the table, leaving poor Missy and poor Oslo grasping their remaining chips like an orphan clutches her tattered woolen blanket in a blizzard.

Eventually, Dag was blinded out with nary a whimper. Okay, he did manage an all in win against Missy for like 20 chips, but whatevs. Yeti put him out of his misery.

Missy was down, but she was not out. She has lost a few damn good hands against Oslo - he flopped a flush while she was giggedy-ing over trips. But she clawed her way out.

BAM! She slayed the mighty Yeti

Oslo, with less than 600 chips against Missy's 5400 chips did not stand a chance. He did manage a hand or two, but he was not match for the Mighty Missy.

Now, children, do you know the moral of the story?

IF MORE OF YOU DAMNED PLAYERS WOULD SHOW UP IT WOULDN'T BE A BLIND DOWN / MISSY RUN!!!

I was feeling pretty smug when I took my 800 remaining chips and became the leader with 3000, but when I put Missy all-in with Aces and Tens vs. my Aces and Nines, I felt impaled by a 25' lance. Mortally wounded, I threw the rest of my chips into the next hand with A2s, only to feel the lance pushed in the rest of the way and hung up like some boyar. Oslo bore witness to this execution, before he too received the same treatment from Missy the Impaler.

:eek:Yeah, some of my shipmates were in town for a tall ships festival, so I went to visit and help out. I forgot to take sunscreen on Thursday; spent all day giving deck tours and got absolutely scorched. Friday was more tours and then drinking with some of the crew 'til the bar closed. (The band dedicated this song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sPJD3qcIL7s) to our ship.) It took all day Saturday, and then some, to recover. I don't know why I try to keep up with 25-year-olds; I didn't even do that stuff when I was 25.

BTW, I ran a theoretical spreadsheet to see what's what. If a player consistently finishes first in a 10,000 player tournament, he gets a score of 100. If a player consistently finishes last in a 10,000 player tournament, he gets a score of 0.

Thus we know what the upper and lower limits of this scoring system are.

Awwww.......sorry to disappoint....too much stuff going on this week.....INCLUDING tonight......my son is back in Fall Ball, which means we got 3 games a week (He's in Juniors now, 13 & 14 y.o.) and tonight we have our first game. Now we have games that can last up to 2.5 hours which start at 6pm PDT and can go to 8:30pm, plus this game is in another town about 15 miles away, which means I won't be home until 9pm PDT. Fortunately, this is our only Thursday game for the whole season, so hopefully I will find my way back on next week. I gotta take down Missy to claim my title!

I'm pretty much done. I've played these weekly games for years only to come to the realization that I'm just not any good at it. I thought that someday I'd get a handle on it or insight or something, but nothing. It's time for me to be rid of the aggravation of trying to do something that's just beyond my scope.

I have enjoyed playing with you guys and gals. There was a time that Thursday night was a highlight of my week, now I literally dread having a hand dealt to me. I really don't have the first clue of what to do with any two cards and that's just terrifying. That's so much different than the feeling that I had when I thought I could win, and I just don't have that feeling any more. What's worse, I can't imagine ever getting it back.

Don't freak out. Other than poker, life is still fine. I haven't played a live hand or online hand since last quarter, I have just lost my taste for the whole thing. Maybe someday I'll get the urge and try it again, you never know.

I just didn't want to leave you hanging, wondering why I wasn't playing any more. It's certainly nothing personal against the group, I'm just not playing poker at all.

I've been on Poker Time all these years and for some reason (like last week), I couldn't find our weekly game. One of you mentioned and linked Crazy Poker, so I just downloaded it, and found our game. But now it doesn't recognize my account name that holds the $10.14. It says I must register, which means "new account", which means "How the hell do I fund it?"

Ideas?

A few weeks later, when I launched the app and it was doing its self-updating thing, it came up as Poker Time and it has been ever since. (At the time, I figured Time bought out Crazy; it wasn't 'til later that I found out it hadn't happened that way to everyone.) So they hijacked me away from the site I wanted, then cut off access to the only game I play.
