View Full Version : Houston Chronicle Comics Archives
Does anyone know why they are eliminating most of their archived comics? Some are still available but many of the archived comics are not. :(
I'm a comic strip nut, I need my comics!!

It could be the syndicates won't allow it. After all, they own the rights, and will allow subscribers access to full archives (for a fee).
Comics.com will allow anyone full access to their full archives for no charge; a few months ago I went through the entire archive of 9 Chickweed Lane from day one.

I loved the Houston Chronicle some of the comics went back as far as 2001. <Sigh> One thing I learned is when you find something cool on the web enjoy it before someone takes it away.

Probably relates more to their financial situation. I just received my renewal notice and my subscription is going up about 50% - which I'll be declining.

Comics.com is inexplicably missing a lot of my favorite strips tho: Zits, Pearls Before Swine, Get Fuzzy, Frazz, Luann, Monty, Mother Goose & Grimm, Mutts (they do have Mutt & Jeff), Rose is Rose. Odd that a site which touts itself as a major comics site (a la its URL) would have such gaping holes in its lineup.

Comics.com has Pearls, Get Fuzzy, Frazz, Luann, Monty, Mutts, and Rose is Rose- it would be strange if they didn't, since the site is owned by United Media, which syndicates those strips. Zits and Mother Goose and Grimm are King Features comics, and thus can be found on any Comics Kingdom (http://comicskingdom.com/) affiliate.
