I was watching Chelsea Lately the other night and she brought up the fact that Osama bin Laden is in love with Whitney Houston. If you type "Osama bin Laden Whitney Houston" into Google, a ton of hits come up, mostly on such sites as The Daily Mail, Perez Hilton, etc., but then I found a link to an article in Harper's Magazine (http://www.harpers.org/archive/2006/09/0081180), which is generally a reputable source, wherein Kola Boof, the former girlfriend of bin Laden, speaks of his obsession with Houston, his desire to marry her and give her a house in Khartoum, after killing Bobby Brown, of course.

Apparently he really IS obsessed with Whitney. Wow.

I'm not even sure if this is the right forum for this. I just found this piece of information such an enormous WTF that I had to share it. What a weird world we live in, where the foremost terrorist and archenemy of America is smitten with a former drugged out, past her prime pop star. I guess anyone can succumb to a crush on a famous person...

The Harper's article is from 2006, which is the same year that WH and BB filed for divorce, so Boof's tale of bin Laden's love dates from before the divorce. I'm still puzzled about why Chelsea Handler wanted to talk about this recently. Maybe because of Whitney's comeback? In any case, even if it's old news, it's new to me, so I'm still giggling over it. Just think of the good Whitney could do for the free world if she could just make little Osama's dreams come true? He should release a video just for her.
