I am wondering if there is a good and efficient way to syncronize certain files or folders on a desktop and a notebook? For example I use the same calandar, schedule, Microsoft Money, etc on both machines, but make changes to one or the other during the say. Is there a "cheap" way that I can sync the computers to the latest version of certain files and folders?

I realize I could have them share a network drive, but sometimes the laptop is used in another location all together and has no access to network it unless the computers are near each other.

ideally something that would work with USB or Firewire would be best.

Computers are both Win ME. Sony Vaio and HP desktop

I would take a look at LapLink (http://www.laplink.com/) software. I've never had the need to run any sync software (apart from my Palm), but LapLink has been around a while and was the standard at one time.

There is a program that comes with Windows that I think is designed to do that. It is "My BriefCase". I have not used it so I don't know how good it is. You might take a look at the Windows help file and see if it looks like it might work.
