Specifically places that are known for good pancakes.

I looked at Yolk's menu. Quite impressive, but all of their pancakes are fruit based. I'm looking for a place that serves pancakes with a more spicey (cinnamon, nutmeg, etc.) and nutty twist.

Any such places? :)

I've moved this from Cafe Society (general forums) to the "Straight Dope Chicago" area. I think you'll get more responses here.

Lou Mitchell's is probably your best bet for breakfast downtown. Can be a long line but the food is outstanding. They have menus on their website (http://www.loumitchellsrestaurant.com/menus.html)so you can check out their breakfast offerings.

Oh, and The Original Pancake House (http://www.originalpancakehouse.com/phm_pancakes2.html)downtown is pretty great. They have a large pancake menu.

I ate at Eleven City Diner (http://www.google.com/search?q=eleven+city+diner) on Sunday and they had very good breakfast, though a little pricey. Their signature french toast was $13, but it was so big I split it in half with my sister and was still stuffed.

I got some pancakes from the Billy Goat before. Very yummy, but they severely short you on syrup.
