My puzzle-a-day calendar had a good one yesterday:

Many famous people's initials lend themselves to self-descriptive phrases. For example, "Wrote Sonnets" works well for "William Shakespeare." See if you can identify these famous folks from the clues.

1. Famous Nurse
2. Noteworthy Astronaut
3. Mayor Billionaire
4. Played Bond
5. Resigned Notoriously
6. Generated Ballets
7. Fettered Cuba?
8. Created Drood

These are actually not all that easy to come up with -- I've only found one worth posting so far, and it's kind of a fudge:

9. Jerkish Late-nighter

Surely some of the wordplay regulars can do better .... Sternvogel, I'm lookin' at you.

Alice Cooper?

Jeez, these are hard to create.

Yeah, but Alice Cooper is a self described born again Christian whose father was a minister, so I don't really understand the Antichrist part. (Or, for that matter, the crooner, though, the nature of these things must allow for some leeway in meaning.)

I was going for what people called him originally (and what they thought he stood for), not for his real life persona.

Yep. Hated to dismiss Jerry as a junkie, but it was the only "J" word I could think of that would be a decent clue.
