Anybody remember these, from the 70s, IIRC. They were shirts with parts, (sleeves, collars, etc) made from different colored and designs of cloth. They were pretty popular for a while. I wore a few. My ex made me. :p
I'm trying to find a pic.
(tick tock, tick tock)
Peace,

I've seen a few in the past few years. The styling didn't seem 70s-ish at all.

I was born in the 70s, so I probably wasn't old enough to notice them and I have no idea if this is similar. But I just saw these shirts (http://www.brooksbrothers.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Merchant_Id=1&Section_Id=667&Product_Id=1438330&Parent_Id=297&default_color=MULTI&sort_by=&sectioncolor=&sectionsize=) in the Brooks Brothers ad the other day.

I first noticed them in the 80s, when not only the parts of shirts were different colors, but sometimes the parts themselves were split into two or more pieces, so that what would ordinarily be the left front shirt piece would be blue up to the ribs, and then red to the neck.

Horrid style. It was called colorblock.

My grandmother made a couple of these shirts for my dad and at least one for my brother. For my sister and me, she made shorts and halter sets. They were fun, but yeah, very '70s!

What you are referring to is madras plaid patchwork.

I can't find an image of it, but rather than the patchwork thing, I remember shirts from that era where The shirt was constructed the same as any other shirt (no patchwork) but each individual piece of fabric was a difference color. So, for example, you might be wearing a button-up dress style shirt with a black left sleeve, a gray trunk, a white right sleeve, a red pocket. The cuffs on the sleeves might be a different color, and the button part on the front of the shirt yet a different color.

All those are right. Most are variations on a similar theme.

You want awful, look at the still popular baggy style. Actually a lot of those pants and shirts are very nice, pretty even, just way too huge.
