Love 'em or hate 'em, when they show up on the shelf at the drug store you know spring is right around the corner. I bought a couple last night and just ate one of them. I'm probably going to eat the other one as soon as I'm done typing this - they're so damned good I can't resist them. I like the original ones best, but I won't turn down a caramel egg or an orange one, for that matter. Funny thing is, I'm not really all that into sweets. I rarely (if ever) buy/eat candy bars. But when those Cadbury creme eggs hit the shelves, I'm all over 'em.

So good...

My wife loves them also. I find them incredibly sickly, so I only have one per year as a tradition type thing. Is it me, or are Easter eggs incredibly cheap this year. They're on the shelves for one pound.

I don't generally like candy or sweets either, but I buy a Cadbury Creme Egg every year and love it. Half the fun is choosing which one I want.

I used to love them. I have noticed that (sensibly enough) American creme eggs are smaller than the British/Irish variety.

Every year- specifically, after Easter when they suddenly become much cheaper- I find myself wondering if a Cadbury Creme Egg milkshake would be good.

It might taste all right but you might actually want to live those several years longer. :)

Don't know if they are different where you are, but here in the UK the consistency isn't all that runny, and shares nothing with that of a raw egg.

I think the consistency has something to do with the ambient temperature (and also the age of the egg)

I just have one a year, because I always forget how sickly sweet they are and it isn't like you can just have half or something. But I have to have one.

I call dibs on yours, then!!

Many years ago, I started dating this guy. Our first date was on Valentine's Day so we'd only been dating a month or two when the Easter season hit. I expressed how much I loooooooved Cadbury eggs, so every time he came over to my house, or picked me up for a date, he'd bring me a 3-egg package. Every single time. Even after Easter had come and gone! I thought he was just the most thoughtful guy. He didn't even like them - too sweet.

Several weeks later, and by this time we'd gotten to know each other a little better, (and he's still bringing eggs) I went over to his house. I'd taken him some food or something, and just went into his kitchen and popped it in the refrigerator. And I saw it - the man had bought an entire case of Cadbury eggs - like 144 3-eggs packages. I knew right then, I had to marry this man!!

I did. :D

That is about the sweetest thing I've read in a while (pun not intended, but noted). Thanks for sharing that story.

I love Cadbury Creme eggs. I like to eat them a bit like a soft boiled egg. I take off the top of the chocolate shell, eat it, use a spoon to eat the insides, and then eat the rest of the shell. I don't actually eat the shells of soft boiled eggs, but the breaking the top off and scooping out the insides to eat mimic my Cadbury habits.

So do I but I haven't seen them in a few years. As for the others, I'm allergic to the creme and the orange and think the caramel ones are too sweet.

Now the Cadbury Mini Eggs, those are addictive.

I've thought that the reason I like them is because they aren't available all year long. If they were, I think the sticky sweetness would get to be to much, and I'd get tired of them.

My SO arrived home one night last week and handed me one. He looked so proud of himself.
Then last night he snuck into my car and left another one on the dashboard for me.

But the best was two years ago. He bought me a chocolate bunny, with wings. And every morning he would put a single one of the mini-eggs behind it. I had the bunny fairy that laid the Cadbury eggs!!!

If that's not a huge hint I never heard one!:p

I love the regular and the caramel. I've never seen the orange, but I'd try them if I could find them.

The only problem with an egg is that once you start eating one you have to finish them fairly quickly, because of the ooziness. I wish I could eat part of an egg and put it down for a while, like with a candy bar.

Seriously, though, isn't the fear of a Cadbury takeover done for now? I'm an American & grew up on Hershey, but I can still appreciate the yumminess that is Cadbury. Hershey is everyday stuff. Cadbury is special.

I've seen more than just the standard Cadbury Creme Egg over here, but I don't think the "others" were Cadbury -- there are Snickers eggs (well, two half-eggs wrapped together) and Rolo eggs (ditto). The Cadbury ones, I'm afraid, are too sweet even for me. Sigh.

Here's what you do.

Take a Cadbury Caramel egg, remove the foil.
Using a knife or fork, open the chocolate shell.
Place the cracked egg on a plate, and microwave for about 30 seconds on low.
Take pretzels, dip in now warm chocolate and caramel.
Eat pretzels.
Go 'mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm oh yeah thats the stuff'.

You just gave me the best idea ever. We all know that Easter Bunnies are hollow right? Rather than getting Mrs. Cad her traditional 1 creme egg a year, I get a bunny, carefully cut out the bottom and ...

ladies get ready to swoon because this is the romantical part

shove a creme egg up its brand new butt and seal it shut with my soldering iron.

I had another idea with the creme egg and a chocolate bunny but 2 problems:
1) not appropriate with a 10 year old in the house
2) if the yellow yolk shows then Mr. Cottontail needs a penicillin shot.

I live not a great distance from the Cadbury's factory and there is a genuine fear for the future of the plant and also for the brand integrity.

It doesn't bother me too much, I think Cadbury's is just dog chocolate. If I want chocolate, I want the good stuff, and Cadbury's is a loooooooooong way from anything good.

Heresy, huh?

I'm as major a sugar consumer as anyone, but creme eggs are just too much for me to take. Unless they've changed since the last one I had (fifteen years ago, I think) I'm happy to leave them be.

Chill them, mate.

That's what I do. Much less messy, and I think it curbs the sweetness a tiny bit, so that my teeth don't actually hurt while eating it.

Of course, I tend to do that with other candies also (M&M's and 3 Musketeers are particularly good cold).

Last Easter I hid about twenty Creme Eggs all over the house. In Matt's many toolboxes, in his shoes, in his jacket pockets, in his guitar cases, all over the shop. I forgot where I put them. I am a dutiful and hilarious wife!

For months afterwards there would be a manly cry of "AUGH AUGH OH DEAR GOD" as he blindly encountered one, say, in his shoe (and an unexpected Creme Egg can really feel quite threatening, apparently), reacting each time like a meerkat faced with a snake.

I think he appreciated them really, though.

I got some Cadbury's Heroes for Xmas from the UK, which had the "Twisted" version of the Creme Eggs. They're much better than the US ones, but still way rich. I've been fobbing them off on my coworker.

Mini-eggs are the smack, though! Is it better to crunch them, or let the shell disolve in your mouth and then enjoy the chocolate?

Shell dissolve in your mouth, totally. They last so much longer that way. (I just caved and bought this year's first mini-egg bag tonight....oh god I've eaten so many....)

I love love love the original and orange ones. I've even learned to apply juuuust the right pressure to crack it into two neat pieces, thus avoiding the need to decide where to bit into it to get at the creme.

Hate the carmel, though, despite liking caramello bars.
