Ive posed this question at forgottenchicago as well, does anyone here remember and know/find the exact date of this tragedy? I believe it was between 1973-1975
We lived a few doors away. I watched the firemen fight this fire from across the street on North ave that day.. a VERY cold winter day.

February 10, 1975. Beginning of an article on Proquest Historical Tribune, 2/11/75 (via Chicago Public Library website): A 4-11 alarm fire on the west side Monday damaged several stores, routed 13 tenants from third floor apartments and caused an estimated $100,000 damage to a three story building at 1551 N. Pulaski Rd. No injuries were reported.

There was also a great fire on the corner back in, I think, 1939. I was on the street selling extras from one of the newspapers. I don't remember which paper. I was ten years old.
Any one here old enough to remember that one. I thought NOT.
