Vocal jazz has always been something I never got in to a great deal, but there have been a few albums that I do like. All of these singers have voices that are very unusual for the majority of jazz albums, and I was curious if someone can help identify other singers I might should check out that are similar (and I apologize, as for samples, I've included links to Amazon pages, where available, where you can hear only short clips -- I don't know what else to do):

Lisa Ekdahl (probably my favourite, albums include When Did You Leave Heaven, Back to Earth, and Sings Salvador Poe).

Björk -- Gling-Gló

Astrud Gilberto -- Astrud Gilberto's Finest Hour

Not a lot to go on, but if anyone is familiar I think they can tell how they are unique in jazz. So...anyone have any suggestions?

Try Blossom Dearie.Damn Biffy, that's what I was gonna say.

Also, Astrud's daughter Bebel Gilberto is also a singer, so you might check her out.

I've heard the name Blossom Dearie before, but I don't have anything by her. But since the name came up more than once, I'll definitely see what's up. I'll have to see about Bebel as well.
