Maybe you're getting the storm we had last week (it's down to friggin' -3ºC again tonight - I'm so tired of moving all my plants in and out, in and out...).

Yeah, it snowed here in Edmonton on the 4th. There's still some snow on the ground. I couldn't help but think, "I know it's kinda far north here, but this is bullshit."

Those are almost exactly my thoughts from last week, word for word. Two weeks until we're supposed to be frost-free and able to start gardening - what the hell?

I blame Harper.

No, this isn't a political rant.

It's just that when he prorogued Parliament, he removed the constant source of hot air that normally ameliorates Ottawa's climate. This is the result.

Ah but Parliament has been in session for weeks now, and there's been two snowfalls in as many weeks... who can say.

We had hail in Portland about a week ago. A regular downpour of it. Then a few nights ago, there was a frost warning two nights in a row. Coldest spring in 50 years, according to some.

NO, NO, NO!!! Snow is GOOD!!! Snow is NICE!!! Snow lets us do things like ski, and sled, and ride our kayaks down hills that otherwise are too flippin' frictioney to let them slide.

Besides - it's the last snowfall of the year winter, likely. It's lost. It was looking for someplace with polar bears and penguins and such. Be kind to it, brush it gently out of your way, and point it towards the nearest polar region.

After all - you're going to see it again in about 6 months. Why send it off hurt and angry and looking for revenge? It just may come back pissed off and looking to really stick it to you at a time when you're still thinking that hot-n-sticky is normal, and you'll find your car is out there under one of those big white lumps on the street - somewhere.....

No, it didn't snow here, dammit. I woulda liked that, too.

All the way down here in Virginia I just gave up and turned the heat back on. If it was just me I wouldn't, but the high today is 55F and the low tonight will be 34. Cripes! You can't fit enough layers on a three-year old and still let them move. . .

I can remember once ages ago (30-odd years ago) it snowed on April 30th here.

Snow is fine...except in May! We had a bit of a flurry a few days ago, but haven't seen any more since, aside from up way higher on the mountains. (I'm in the mountains, in Idaho.)

A low above freezing? Wow. I'd be able to turn my heat off completely! As it is, I'm still having to turn it on at least for awhile in the mornings. If the weather people are right, that will start happening this weekend. We'll see.

Most years the furnace doesn't even run at all in the month of May. Right now I have the wood stove going in the basement AND the furnace has been running. Expected flurries again today with a low of -2 overnight.

You can keep the snow :p though we did see a few flames yesterday afternoon. It couldn't decide whether to be warm or cold.

Here in coastal southern Maine, air temps were in the forties, with 20-30 MPH winds, nice and comfortable to me, I had a relaxing afternoon pulling a shrub out of one of the flowerbeds next to the house with our Kubota 5200 diesel garden tractor (the flowerbed's being replanted as a culinary herb garden) and then I mowed the lawn

Nice, comfy sweatshirt weather it was, I'm dreading the return of The Heat™

Cold here too, and has been all weekend. Yesterday it was 45 with a wind chill of 36. Today was warmer because the sun was out. But it's 46 outside now. I'm just south of Chicago.

The wind yesterday was harsh. It felt more like March. The latest I have seen snow here is May 6, 1988--which then became the summer of the drought, so we could still be in for extreme heat this summer. I hope not. I'd rather have this than heat.

It's supposed to snow here tonight, above 7000 feet. Up to six inches, they're saying. I'm at about 5800. I should be safe, as I'm not planning to drive north through a pass which will get snow if it snows at all.

Percival, nights in the 50s? That's July and August. That's not cold. That's crack the windows and sleep like a baby time.

Colorado mountains here. Very high up.

Our nights are still below freezing, and snow is not at all uncommon. Snowed yesterday. Supposed to snow tomorow.

Still lots of snow in our yard. Couple of feet. Yesterday was the first day I was able to get up the drive without going into 4x4 (and I plow it).

Idaho. In the mountains, a ski town, lovely place. I love the mountains.

It's very dry here, so that plus that altitude makes for chilly nights. It always surprises the summer tourists.

This. Dear God, you take your life in your hands getting in between gardeners and the greenhouses in the spring here. If I heard a news report of some woman knocking down another woman trying to get to the last tomato plant, I would totally, totally believe it.

One to two feet predicted just to my west, in the Colorado foothills. We are expecting one to three inches overnight with it changing back to rain tomorrow. A slight movement of the storm track south of where it is currently predicted and that one to two feet could be in my yard tomorrow morning.

It's freezing here in England too. There's been snow up on the hills in Scotland, and even down here in southern England there was an air frost last night and it's forecast to get even colder tonight.

I just looked up the maximum temperature today at London City airport and it was 9ºC (48ºF). Nine degrees, in mid-May. Two or three weeks ago it was 21 degrees.

4.6", the all-time record for the date. Just another inch or two and the trees and shrubs would have been crushed. As it is, they're just bent over heavily.

The one good thing is that this caused a cancellation of last night's Rockies game, which hopefully threw Roy Halliday off his rythym.
