As a pipe smoker of more than 15 years, I beg to differ with that opinion.

Those who don't like men that smoke often find a man that smokes a pipe to be more acceptibe. Those who don't care whether a man's a smoker or not often find a man that smokes a pipe to be more attractive.

It smells better (if you're using a good tobacco), and from the perspective of the smoker, tastes better than cigarettes.

Besides, it's a total riot to have a curious woman come up and ask if she can try my pipe ;). Most of the time she's aware of the double meaning, but when she doesn't realize until after she's said it, it's hillarious.

dublos couldnt agree with you more man, the best ice breaker i've found yet when i'm sitting in a strange bar is to haul out the pipe (i'm 19, people seem to find it strange)

And heaven help you if you don't use one of them funny looking pipes. I had 2 frat brothers break a couple of my favorite pipes by making this mistake. There's a reason that pipes for alternative substances have the size and shape they do.

Put that stuff in a normal pipe and smoke it, and you'll crack the bowl. In one case it disintigrated right in his hand.

Thankfully they were ashamed enough of this act that they bought me new ones that were almost as nice.

I love pipes! Get some nice tobacco and a sifter of brandy and I can pretend for a few minutes that I am the most important person in the room. There is a stigma to pipe smokers. Something old, something that stems back to the early days of American that make people perk up.

Granted there are those Tobacco Nazi's who think that smoking anything is bad. But if I had to choose between cigarettes, cigars, or my pipe, I would choose my pipe hands down.

Of course I don't smoke JUST tobacco... I like herbs as well. :)
