I'm browsing in the bookstore's humor section, and see a book by my favorite funny author*.

And the blurb says this book is "not recommended for reading at the beach. You'll laugh so hard everything will jiggle."
Huh?
Now, what's wrong with that?
Why would a woman who's dressed for the beach be embarrassed of a little jiggle?

And in general, when you are getting ready to invest hard-earned money in a good, funny book--- how do you rate the level of funny?

'Cause I'm, well,.... not built right.. for using the jiggle-meter test.

(*David Sedaris.
But, as I type this, it occurs to me that maybe he's not my favorite, maybe he's only number 2, after Bill Bryson. )

Maybe the comment is not aimed at the women readers. That might cause some embarassment.

Didn't you know that every thing on a woman's entire body is supposed to be tight and muscle-y, no matter her age or whether or not she has time to be at the gym six days a week? Except for boobs of course.

I misread the thread title as "So what's wrong with a little jiggie.."

Personally, I wouldn't buy a book that had the blurb you mentioned chappachula. Not because it's offensive but because for supposedly a funny book, that's a super crap blurb.

Maybe it was supposed to be a lighthearted and silly comment not to be taken as a slam on womankind especially since it didn't say anything about women at all?

"He had a broad face, and a round little belly
That shook when he laughed like a bowl full of jelly."
