Matt Lauer put Dina Lohan in the hot seat on Friday, pressing the showbiz mom to defend daughter Lindsay Lohan and address long-hovering scrutiny for the way she raised the troubled starlet. It was a tense 11 minutes of television, with Lohan appearing uneasy and even combative at times.

"Dina felt ambushed by Matt," a family friend told PopEater after speaking with Lohan. "She was surprised how many tough questions he asked."

The system is really letting this girl down. They are already talking about releasing her early. Maybe even by Aug 13. today? She's supposed to get 90 days treatment and she gets only 10 or 12 days? Man that's screwed up.

I guess Lohans money and lawyers are pressuring for an early release. She'll be right back in that drug environment as soon as she gets released. It's a shame. She obviously needs long term treatment. Sooner or later we'll be reading her obituary.

reported that Lohan could be released as early as Friday (August 13), citing a spokesperson at the Los Angeles District Attorney's office who said that the actress' program might be "modified," meaning that she could switch from an in-patient program to an out-patient program.
