View Full Version : What is your first-thing-in-the-morning drink?

If you answer coffee or tea, how do you take it?

I always have a cup of tea with sweet 'n low first thing in the morning.

Glory

Coffee, 2 splendas, dash of half and half.

CalMeacham
09-13-2010, 08:44 AM
Water. Or either orange juice or chocolate milk with my medicine. (They have a tendency to upset stomachs, so milk is my drink of choice for this, especially if I'm not eating anything).

Rarely., I'll drink tea, especially on travel. In which case I take it straight or with some sugar. Never with milk. I don't drink coffee at all.

coffee, black

Vihaga

Water. I always try to have that first thing.

Once I get to work, a cup of tea, either hot or iced, depending on the time of year. I gave up coffee a while ago and only have it when I am *really* craving it, as I have no ability to moderate my coffee intake unless I reserve it as a "special occasion/craving" beverage.

Tea, English breakfast, black and unsweetened.

Water. I may later have coffee or juice, but I make a point to wake up, pee, and drink a full glass of water before I do anything else.

Instant Folgers, 1 splenda packet, splash of milk or a squirt of whipped cream if I'm feeling naughty.

Sometimes when it's hot out I'll have some Crystal light peach iced tea.

Bigelow's Plantation Mint tea, unsweetened: steep the bag for about 10-20 minutes, then pour hot tea over cool water with lotsa ice, to both water down and cool down. I generally carry 1 tea bag in my purse just to make sure I have it when I need it.

I used to be a mountain dew drinker, and that was my first beverage in the morning. Then it turned into my first beverage and my first bout of heartburn for the day.

Pepto Bismol and Jim Beam.

Kal
09-13-2010, 10:10 AM
Normally a big glass of water or a mug of tea (brand depends on what I bought; currently Typhoo) with skimmed milk and three sugars. Sometimes it'll be a pint of apple juice.

Kal
09-13-2010, 10:16 AM
Pepto Bismol and Jim Beam. This reminds me. If the previous night's entertainment involved a movie, pizza and some booze then my preferred drink is an ice cold lager or cider. I'll save a can in the fridge just so I can do that. Beer, cold pizza and a ciggy is the breakfast of champions.

OK. On a more serious note, I take a glass of water to bed each night. So first thing in the morning I usually have a few gulps of that. Then, on weekdays anyway, my coffee is already brewed, and I pour myself a cup: black. Then I have another cup. Then I take a cup on the road. At work I'll have another couple of cups: all black.

Water, then either hot tea (no milk or sugar) or coffee (milk, no sugar); probably tea about 60 percent of the time, coffee 40. And after the water but before the tea or coffee, a big swig of cranberry juice out of the bottle to wake up my mouth.

I don't do coffee or tea so usually on a work day I usually start with a glass of fizzy Vimto. I am pretty ashamed to say that this is usually followed up by my morning caffeine hit from the delights of a Coca Cola can.

I probably won't have any teeth left by the time I'm 30, but really don't enjoy anything else that is easily accessible at work, and I never think to drink before I leave the house in the morning.

Huge glass of ice water, first thing. I keep a water filtration pitcher in my fridge, so I have cold, good-tasting water when I want it. I still put ice in it, though. Lots of ice.

About a half-hour later, I move on to the coffee, fresh ground and brewed, with Splenda and Half and Half.

Water. Always.

I may drink some hot green tea (plain, no sweetener or other added stuff) or juice, but neither is a habit.

Usually, I start with water and stick with it most or all of the day (maybe some beer or wine or (rarely) a pop or bottled juice later on.)

It's also my LAST drink of the day.

On off days, a widemouth 4-cup Mason jar filled with super-strong Tetley British Blend, 1/2 n 1/2, and honey. Plus the bunch of vitamins, and a couple of eggs over hard with sauteed greens.

A few swallows of water to wash down the pills, then it's a 16 oz. mug with coffee, lactose free 2% milk and two splendas.

Once in a while, if I'm in a hurry, I'll drink a glass of unsweetened iced tea or a diet Mountain Dew on the fly, but it's usually coffee. If I'm in a mood, I'll even do a double expresso with a shot of SF vanilla and warm milk.

Small glass of iced coffee with 1% milk and Equal. Year-round. I am off hot coffee for some reason. My local convenience store sells a huge cup of iced coffee for 0.99. I go once a week and fill a 32 oz. cup with their cold, black stuff, then stash it in the fridge and pour off my morning portions throughout the week, adding my own milk and ice. Their coffee is so much better than I make.

It depends on both how I'm feeling when I get up, and what I have in the house at the time.

If I'm feeling fine, water, or orange juice.
If I'm still tired, coke or coffee, depending on if I have any coke around.
If I feel a migraine coming on when I first get up, coke or orange juice. If I lack either, I'll settle for water.
If I wake up with severe indigestion, a glass of milk.
If it's cold, coffee or hot chocolate.

I like my coffee hot. I take it 16 oz. at a time, with 1 teaspoon of folders instant, 3 teaspoons of cream, and 4 teaspoons of sugar.

On an aside, if I could afford it, I'd drink nothing but orange juice.
