There are a limited number of slots for moderators, basically one per forum. TUBADIVA is in charge of us, so if you're interested, send her a "resume" or similar explanation of your worth.

However, there are no openings at present.

You couldn't pay me enough to deal with jerks like me all day.

Is "Moderator" a volunteer position, or what does it pay? and how much time do you spend doing it?

Is there a uniform you have to wear when you post? Does it have epaulets?

And shouldn’t you be called extreme-ors or something like that?

Vanillanice, my favorite poster on the whole message board, said:How does one become a moderator?Dave B.is my favorite. He's nice, somewhat.Your main question has already been answered, but I just wanted to let you know: Kissing up will get you nowhere. Now cash, on the other hand... ;)

Keeves asks:Is "Moderator" a volunteer position, or what does it pay?Volunteer. No monetary pay, just the wonderful feeling of basking in the glow of a good job.and how much time do you spend doing it?Way too much. But seriously, it depends. The moderator of "Comments about the Mailbag" obviously has less to keep track of than the moderator of General Questions.

Ike asked:Is there a uniform you have to wear when you post?Yes, but we're not allowed to divulge that information.

Ohhhhhhhh, David, NOW you've done it!

Yike...can't hold off a mental image of TubaDiva in a snappy usherette costume, complete with white gloves, fishnet hose, and pillbox hat...

Well, about pay... I got an official mug from the CHICAGO READER, and a certificate of appreciation signed by Cecil and Ed, and some very soggy brats (the wurst, not the children) at a BBQ during a rainstorm.

But that's because the MAILBAG forum is easier to moderate than this one. You callin' me a wuss, David?

It's the accessories that make the outfit!]]

Whoa, I read that as "it's the accordion that makes the outfit." Damn fine outfit that would make, too.

[[Hey! Where's mine?! Hmph.]]

Don't worry, David. You'll get yours.

I ain't a handwriting expert, B-Line, but NO, they are definitely not the same handwriting. Ed's is a legible handwriting, nice slant, probably Catholic school training. Cecil's is a scrawl, almost verticle, almost illegibobble.
