the green flash

just wanted to mention my interest in the explanation for the green flash.
my dad has been looking for the green flash at sea or at coast for as long as i can remember--as a result i have always looked, but never found--
until 2 months ago in key west; my dad also saw it for the first time in 58 yrs; no one else w/us saw and none believed.

My family and I (including my in-laws) frequently go to Kona in the winter, and stay right on the ocean there. Like everyone else, if we possibly can, we watch the sun set each night. On a couple of occasions I have seen a little bit of green flash. However, one evening we were driving back from the Edelweiss restaurant (and sadly, I was driving) when everyone else in the car saw and incredibly intense green flash that lasted for several seconds. I knew that it had to be something amazing because I could see the clouds overhead turn green. The problem is that the stretch of road we were on was so winding that I couldn't take my eyes off it. I have no idea if being far above sea-level matters, but we've never seen anything like it on the shore and I didn't think to ask people at the hotel if the flash had been pronounced that night.

Darn - Does this mean I need to keep looking for another 34 year?
