EZ Computer Guru Q: RMUs

Besides marking off a computer server rack in increments of whole RMUs, what other method might be used? I saw a 42U rack with numbers in the middle part of the rack ranging from 50 to 90. (I failed to notice what number is at the top). Any clue what increments these might be?

If anyone else should read this thread, I figured out the nubers were identifying each screw hole along the length of the post of the rack. Three screw holes = 1 U = 1.75 inches.

Did they number the screw holes? The 50th hole is going to be just a bit short of the mid point on the rack.
