I've occasionally seen blogs or one-off news items online about someone's house being in a horrible state of neglect (while they live in it), sometimes due to special circumstances, sometimes just due to pure laziness.
I just read a post on reddit from a guy who decided to be open about his own extreme laziness. It piqued my curiosity for more.
Are there any websites out there that are themed around this kind of thing?

Don't know of any specific websites but there was a tv show dedicated to hoarders.

No "was" about it...the newest show aired last night, in fact.

Check out the Hoarders show on A&E as referenced above. Whether you want to call a mental illness "voluntarily" having a messy house or not, it's a fascinating show that I can't stop watching. I always clean something and throw something out after watching, I can't help it.

:D and i thought i was the only one doing that.... the show is like a traffic accident: you can't help but watch it. i don't understand the mechanism behind what is really a mental illness, but by golly, i never miss an ep.
