My husband and I are looking to go deeper in our practice (and our children too), so we are looking for recommendations/ideas for a good Buddhist temple or services in SoCal.
Any ideas or suggestions?

Mountain View Zen Center (http://www.livingcompassion.org/mountain-view-zen-center), but it is in the Bay Area. They have a radio show and email classes, which might help overcome the distance issue.

I cannot help you because I live in Jersey, just wanted to pop in and say ''howdy'' as a fellow Buddhist.
ETA: Thought you might be a first-time poster, but no, not even close. Howdy anyway!

Hsi Lai Temple (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hsi_Lai_Temple) in Hacienda Heights. I don't know about services though, but it's big, real big. Either the biggest or 2nd biggest Buddhist temple in the Western Hemisphere, depending on who you believe. They also have good vegetarian lunches there too. And it's fun to throw coins into that little area with the bell and try to hit the bell
