For the gaming crowd:
I have just put up my latest (and incidentally, first) game on Kongregate and would like some reviews and ratings on the game. It's Orbital Defense System (http://www.kongregate.com/games/extrakun/orbital-defense-system) which is tower defense with a twist - you have to protect Earth from asteroids, comets and planet-killers with orbiting satellites and you have to get the defense to be at the right place at the right time.
If you did enjoy the game, please leave a rating on the site too. Thanks in advance!

Got some typos on the objective screen. Do not let any asteriods, comets or danger from outer space reaches Earth!
Asteroids is spelled like "asteroids", and it'd parse better with "dangers from outer space reach Earth!"
I'll play a level or two and tell you what I think, before going to bed.

Can you upgrade or sell/junk your satellites in any way? Regardless of whether the answer is yes or no, that info should be in the instructions.

Ignore that question. I didn't notice the bit at the bottom because the game seemed to take up the whole screen.

Same here. The weapons upgrade didn't appear on the screen. I had to scroll down to see it.

My screen resolution is at 1366x768, and I have to scroll down to see the sell/upgrade section. That's going to make me just quit the game, especially for something that critical. I think the space below the EMP purchase could be used for that.
Also, any chance of using the number pad as well?

Thanks, all for giving the game a try.
I think I can have a tweak which use the number pad instead.
This is a good reminder for me to keep laptop users in mind. I'll try to see if I can reduce the game resolution to 800x600, but that probably will take longer than the numberpad tweak.

All right I have changed the screen resolution to the standard 800x600 and added in support for the numpad keys.
Thanks!

:)
Like it a lot. Graphics are awesome, I didn't exactly play the game, more just placed satellites and admired the show! I became very happy the first time three laser satellites fired on one target.
Critiques:
Mechanics:
Logically, If you use the mouse to hit the pause button, you should be able to use it to unpause as well.
To cancel satellite placement, you could also be able to right click.
I played in 1920x1080 screen res and things were quite small but there's probably not much you can do about that when you also have to deal with low res players.
Tutorial:
The screen that tells you to place the satellites in the blue boxes should say that lefthand boxes orbit counter-clockwise and right hand ones orbit clockwise.
Give your aliens a name or say they are from a particular planet to make things less generic.
Spelling Mistakes in tutorial screens:
Particle cannons/Laser cannons does decent damage...
Missile turret is Slowler...

Thanks for spotting the errors and suggestions! I'll try to see if I can get a button up to unpause.

I feel like it'd be helpful to see thin orbit lines for your satellites. It gets pretty confusing once there's a mass of enemies on the screen, and this would help distinguish you from them.

That's a good suggestion. Unfortunately I have no idea how to implement the feature at the moment. I got to do some research on that.

Looks awesome, man! I haven't actually played it yet because I'm at work right now but I'm wondering how you coded it since I can see it's not Flash... I had to download a "Unity" plug-in for it... what's that about? I'm intrigued, since I have made Flash games before but haven't seen web games like this.

Thanks Rigamarole, hope you have a blast with the game!
Unity3D (http://www.unity3d.com) is a game engine which can export to an online format. It's indie version is free to try and it is quite versatile. Its workflow is like Flash, allowing you to attach scripts to models/objects, but there's no timeline for programming tasks (there's one to animate stuff on the scene, but I haven't experiment with that).
BTW based on feedback I've adjusted the difficulty of the game. If you've a hard time with it please do go back and try again :)

I like it! And I am normally bored silly with tower defense type games, but the inclusion of orbits provides a pleasant twist on the genre - especially how the timing of the placement of the satellites is important so as not to have them all on one side of the planet at any one time.
Good job.

Echoing what others have said about the resolution size. I don't know what resolution my monitor is offhand, but I play other games on Kongregate and all of them have "normal" (smaller) sized windows, so yours is definitely bigger than them, regardless of screen resolution. No problem though, just wanted to chime in. I didn't want to download the plug-in (not on my computer so I don't want to add stuff to it), but I intend to play when I get home. It looks and sounds like fun.
