View Full Version : Doug Hutchison, 51, marries 16 year old "country singer"

Sampiro

Hutchison's biggest role in film was probably the craven sadistic Percy Wetmore in The Green Mile. His wife is 16, proud of her boobs, and an aspiring country singer and actress he wed with her parents' consent.

Anderson Cooper had a bitchy field day (http://ac360.blogs.cnn.com/2011/06/22/the-ridiculist-hutchison-stodden-critics/)with the story following, perhaps not coincidentally, a segment on Obama's evolving and devolving views on gay marriage.

So, do you think this is true love, just sleazy, or a well planned publicity stunt to give a second wind to Hutchison's career and jump-start the bride's?

I count 3 states were the marriage would not be legal (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marriageable_age#North_America) regardless of parental consent. But, even those three states would legally recognize the marriage in honor of the laws of the State of Nevada. Thank god for heterosexuality!!!

There is no way in hell that girl is 16. She says on her website that she competed in the 2010 Miss USA pageant for Washington State, which requires you to be at least 18 years of age but under 27 years of age.

I call bullshit, she's either lying about her age or she is lying about the pageant appearance. Since she links to a video of her competing in the pageant (with much smaller boobs) I say she is lying about her age. Plus, she looks awfully weathered for a girl of 16.

Is it immoral to be attracted to a 16-year-old if she looks like an older woman who has had too much plastic surgery?

I did write that incorrectly, sorry. She competed for Miss Washington Teen USA as Miss Teen Ocean Shores, WA. Youtube Link (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ysnXqS2LO5k). On her personal website (http://www.courtneystodden.com/) she says it is the "Donald Trumps Miss USA 2009 Pageant" so I inferred it was the Miss USA pageant and not the Miss TEEN USA Pageant.

However, I stand by my assertion that she is not 16 years old. Miss Teen USA requires contestants to be between 14 and 19, so she could be anywhere from 16 to 21 now. I think she is closer to 21 than 16.

And this is why, if you lie about your age, you should always lie up. Say she's 25. She already looks rough for a 25-year-old -- she looks terrible for a 16-year-old. But if she lies and says she's 45, then suddenly she seems to look pretty good.

She looks (and sounds) like my niece did at 16. Almost identical. Her's are real too. I think she's just wearing a lot of make-up and it tends to make you look harsh. Especially the over-arched brows and over-lined lips. There were a few photos on her site gallery where she's wearing less make-up and looks younger. She's also had her lips done, in my opinion badly. Duck lips.

Wow, I guess I was wrong.

I don't expect a 16-17 yr old to look the way she does. They should look fresh and innocent, not like skanked up plastic whores. I was going to ask what kind of parent would allow their 16 yr old to get the plastic surgery to look like this, but I guess it would be the same parent who would allow their 16 yr old to marry a 51 yr old.

Assuming it's not just a publicity stunt I'm wondering what in the hell a 51 year old could see in a 16 year old that's worth marriage. Sure the sex is great initially but you'll have to talk to her sometime presumably, and this isn't the 1830s where you're going to keep her pregnant til one of you is dead so you'll be too busy churnin' and plowin' to avoid her in all but the bed. I'm younger than he is and find I have a generation gap with 30 year olds due to the influence of pop culture and high tech in their childhoods. For perspective, when he was born The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour and Leave it to Beaver were still in first run/JFK was still alive/nobody had heard of James T. Kirk; when she was born Roseanne & Northern Exposure had wrapped, Bill Clinton was on a collision course with Monica-gate, and she's a contemporary of the The Dancing Baby that was already being emailed around the globe about the time she took her first dance steps.

She's really sixteen, and the marriage is for real (such as it is). I know people in Ocean Shores, and she's very well known in town (and considered quite the embarrassment). For one thing, there was no "Miss Ocean Shores" pagent. Her father went to the Mayor and got him to name her Miss Ocean Shores just so she could compete (poorly) in the state pagent.

She denies it, but there are persistant rumors that she had breast augmentation when she was 14.

Everyone who knows her and has seen her sing and dance agrees on one thing: she will have a good career in porn someday.

I really feel sorry for this screwed up kid. Her parents, however, should be flogged for what they've done.

I was thinking about this situation, and it seems to me that marrying a person who looks old but has an immature personality is completely ass-backwards. What's the point? I'd totally marry someone who looked young but was actually quite mature in outlook, but the other way around?

Eeyore'sgirl
06-24-2011, 02:31 AM
It makes zero sense unless, as her parents deny, the entire point of this little adventure is not to help her become famous for something (Quite possibly, the career choice Thalion suggested). I think they really have the goal of a sweet divorce settlement that they "Alex and Christa' AKA mommy dearest and daddy Larry Flint, reportedly could really use. She's a terribly screwed up child with totally delusional parents.

I remember the flag day parade last year. There were two local beauty "queens" riding in separate convertibles and their entourages were strikingly different. Courtney (the made it all up, queen) was surrounded by large, black suited bodyguards. Blythe ( the REAL beauty queen having won Miss Outstanding Teen Grays Harbor, rode in her vehicle sans guards of any type.

Courtney needs a mother and father who think about their daughters welfare instead of a potential payout in their pockets.

Unfortunately, when she falls, she will fall very, very flat and very hard. That's when it will be truly difficult. She will have no skills, possibly enough money to keep the cosmetic surgery centers in business and absolutely no idea how to learn and grown from this big, big mistake.

It really is a very sad situation and I'd love to hear what Doug Hutchinson "paid" the parents to convince them that he was genuinely in love with their darling daughter.

I agree with Thalion about flogging her parents....right before we charge them with prostituting their only child!

I've seen this on other message boards. I just don't see how she looks old and haggard, as the last line in your post implies. She looks like an attractive young woman, though one that's about 21 rather than 16, far from old-looking. The only thing I can figure out is that a lot of folks REALLY hate that overly-made-up look. To me, he looks like a 51-year-old with baby-smooth skin from a chemical peel, and maybe some surgery of his own. Kinda creepy-looking, and current context isn't helping his case.

We're also not used to seeing such a young woman with so much plastic surgery, which has become a visual cue for an older person trying to look young. Implants at 14...WTF were her parents (and surgeon) thinking? That's maybe a couple of years after you hit puberty -- your chest won't stop growing for at least another five years.

I'm glad posters here have brought up her parents, because I hadn't considered them before. What a shameful way to treat your child.

Can you imagine having to talk to and live with a spoiled 16 year old, and attempt to treat her like a wife and not a child? It sounds like a nightmare. And having sex with an extremely mature 16 year old (virgin?) must be one of those best-left-in-fantasy situations, like doing it with twins. Maybe fun to wank to, but way creepy in real life.

The thing is is that it's not going to turn out well for anyone involved. In a year no one will remember her name, Hutchinson will be "the dude who married a 16 year old" instead of "who?" If they expect any career boost other than a quick "ewwwww!" from all of America I think they're going to be disappointed. Of course, maybe their marriage will be all the fulfillment they need!

I don't want to defend this marriage (then again I never heard of these two before this thread) but do any of these 30+ years difference in ages marriages ever work.?I was thinking of Fred Astaire at age 80 marrying 35 year old jockey Robyn Smyth. Apparently at the time a lot of Astaire's friends were aghast, they thought Smyth was only marrying him for his money. But when he died seven years later, they had time changed their minds , feeling she genuinely loved and cared for him. But she was 35 ( old enough to be this girls's mother) and had a career of her own in a male-dominated sport.

Where to begin on all the problems of this "marriage"? First, at 16, a young person can't intellectually grasp who she'll be in 10 years, let alone forever. No frame of reference. There's a whole lotta changin' going on between 16 and when the brain finishes maturing, around age 25. HE may remain fairly stable mentally, but she will be growing, changing, and becoming more independent emotionally, no matter how superficial she is.

I don't have the cite, but I read last fall that marriages where there is an age difference of 9 years or more have twice the divorce rate of marriages where the couples have 8 or fewer years between them. Apparently, one of the predictors of marital success is how much the couple has in common, and a couple with nearly two generations between them don't have the same cultural frame of reference. It's pretty tough to find enough in common to make such a marriage work. If this marriage should last, when he's 70, she'll be 35. How many 35-year-olds do you know who are wildly attracted to 70-year-olds?

But WTH, he thinks he's lucky--he's got a pubescent vixen, and she thinks she's lucky--she's got a man with some social status, and in a few months or years, the divorce will be another coup. Nothing will help her lack of talent, though.

There's nothing romantic about this marriage. It's just sad, sad, sad.

The more people I see throw themselves into (theoretically) lifelong monogamy, the more convinced I am that it's just plain dumb.

You're in love? Fine. Be in love. Have the romantic candlelight dinners. Have the afternoon walks on the beach. Have the long, meaningful discussions. Heck, have sex. C'mon, this isn't friggin' Saudi Arabia. Buy a pack of condoms and do it.

You want acceptance? From who, your parents? Snooty co-workers? Rush Limbaugh? You should know by now that there's no pleasing those cretins. And what exactly have they done for you lately? You're going to have to tell them to take a long walk on a short flower path at some point; the sooner you get it over with, the better.

You're a Christian? Well, if you haven't noticed, you're in America, where that translates to "right-wing, mainstream, doesn't like to help others, wants to get rich, pro-military". Not monogamous. Yes, Christians believe in holy matrimony. That means that if you're not living a holy, pure, divine, pure, clean virtuous, sacred, pure, angelic, pure, pure, pure life, you have absolutely no effin' business tying the knot. That goes for BOTH members; God doesn't go for halfway measures. It's in the Bible. Look it up.

You're in it for the money/sex? Okay, golddigging 101: 1. The guy has to be rich, and 2. the guy has to be near death (i.e. old). Otherwise it's not going to work. Even if you divorce him and get half of what he pulled in during the marriage, well, half of a hill of beans is a somewhat smaller hill of beans. As for completely legal sex with a minor...dude, you do realize that 1. she's going to get older, and 2. she's going to want you to contribute something to the relationship? Yeah, women don't go for worthless sex-obsessed parasites. They're weird like that.

Eh. They'll be separated soon enough. Yeah, it's sad that they're going to drive each other nuts in the coming months, but some people just gotta learn the hard way. Having dealt with a lot of people like that, I gotta say that it beats the alternative.

What an unfortunate looking girl. I suppose, though, it's good to get that first disastrous marriage out of the way. I expect there are a bunch of "well, my grandma got married when she was 14 and grandpa was 30 and they just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary" stories that could be trotted out for just such an occasion. But I don't think we'll see this couple on whatever replaces Willard Scott's Smuckers Jar 50 years from now.

Clark County? Please, I got married in Clark County and my identification info has been more rigorously investigated while buying cigarettes than it was when applying for my marriage license. I filled out a one-page form and flashed my ID (maybe, don't even remember) to some old lady at a desk, coughed up something like $50, and we were done.

If someone makes a false claim they are 16 years old ts not going to be very difficult to determine the validity of the claim, because all public records, school enrollments, classmates recollections, etc. are all still so recent. The entirety of their life is all easily recollected by many living persons. The story has made big enough news that someone will dig up the public information easily available to disprove it if its a stunt.

It's not an important enough question to me to do the leg work but a few paid searches of public records would settle it plain and simple. Being so very easy to disprove it, is hard to imagine they would try to make the claim. I tend to accept the claim even though it is admittedly difficult to believe by looking at some photos of her.

Quick internet searches definitely determine she was "Miss Ocean Shores" in the "Miss Teen USA" contest, and that the mayor of Ocean Shores did make a decree praising her for work educating young people about skin cancer as part of that campaign. Since that was under 2 years ago your belief that she is 30 years old would mean she somehow fraudulently got into that pageant at 28 years old. I find that hard to believe.

A lot of the videos and photos out there do make her look easily 35-40. But when she was miss teen USA she made this PSA announcement (http://blogs.seattleweekly.com/dailyweekly/2011/06/watch_courtney_stodden_16-year.php) as part of her Royal Teenly duties to the pageant. It demonstrates pretty clearly to me that this is a teenage girl. She turned the 7 minute PSA spot into an opportunity to rant incoherently about everything from her personal friends and enemies in her hometown to her breasts being real. All in the name of public service, to the obviously 15-18 year old girl in this video. If you can make it through 2 minutes of it you will probably agree it isn't that unbelievable that she is 17.

Eeyore'sgirl

She really is 16, in spite of her appearance and demeanor. Her mother said she pulled her out of school because people were jealous of her beauty and "the body of a Goddess". No problem with perspective there.

I live in Ocean Shores and quite frankly haven't met anyone overwhelmed by her beauty and even less enamored with either her attitude or her "singing". Almost to a person, she is pitied and laughed at. There are way too many people waiting for her to fall on her ass. That will happen, no doubt about it.

Her parents are complete and total nitwits who have been grooming this child her enter life for just such a situation. They see dollar signs, either from a celebrity wedding/divorce or from her monstrously inept musical career. Either way, Courtney is the one suffering and I do feel sorry for her.

She has a very tough journey ahead of her. She has no skills (or at least ones that aren't X rated), no natural talent, and she's arrogant enought to believe she doesn't need counseling, coaching or mentoring. Don't see a snowballs hell of chance that this marraige/scam/publicity stunt/joke, will be anything more than 15 minutes of fame.

What a waste.

On the subject of 50-something celebrity/teenaged bride marriages that work against all odds, the gold standard would have to be James Doohan (Scotty from Star Trek). He married Wende, a 17 year old girl, when he was a 54 year old broke and twice divorced father of four. Today they'd probably have been on every front page but at the time (1974- several years after the series, several years before the first Star Trek movie, and before the conventions were few and barely noticed) he was far too low on the media radar to get much note.

In any case they beat all the odds and remained married until his death 30 years later. They had two sons in the early years of their marriage, during which time he frequently played the local dinner theatre circuit* and the occasional commercial or voiceover but had a career generally in low gear. This may have created a perfect-storm for unlikely successful marriage: he worked seldom enough he was really able to bond with his kid wife and little boys even if times were relatively lean, then before familiarity and hand-to-mouth retirement could breed contempt his career got a major reboot as he went from doing dinner theatre and corporate training films to making more money than he'd ever made before with the Star Trek movies and the very lucrative convention circuit.**
They also made news many years after their marriage with their "Viagra surprise baby", a daughter born when Wende was in her mid 40s and Jimmy was 80.

On the other hand Hutchison isn't Scotty and Scotty's wife didn't lip synch to horrendously bad singing in stalled boats trying to boost herself and her "real boobs" to superstardom. And somehow there's a huge difference twixt 16 and 17.

*Long pointless explanatory aside:

I mentioned the "dinner theatre circuit" recently and some 20-somethings weren't familiar with the concept. Dinner theatre is still around in limited doses as local community theatre and fundraisers that set up a buffet with an amateur production of Guys and Dolls or whatever (the absolute weirdest I ever knew was a dinner theatre production of Shadowlands- that classic trio of C.S. Lewis, cancer, and spaghetti!"). but at one time it was big. Even Montgomery Alabama had one permanent dinner theatre that occasional attracted- ahem- "big names". Usually the one here got 'former' soap opera stars.
Today the professional dinner theatre circuit has pretty much gone the way of Battle of the Network Stars and primetime guest shots by Charo, but in the 1970s it was a major semi-respectable source of income for many washed up TV stars. Bob Crane was doing dinner theatre in Arizona when he was murdered. Bob "Gilligan" Denver and his wife Dreama pretty much made their livings from dinner theatre in the 1970s (like Doohan he hadn't worked regularly in TV for years and he had alimony and child support payments to make) and in his memoir described it something like "it was a concept that started when people who knew nothing about running a restaurant decided to try making a mess of theatre as well".
While it didn't pay a fortune it was a living. John Astin (who occasionally did the circuit, sometimes with his then wife Patty Duke) said that it had another major appeal to washed up actors, which was the ego boost: L.A. is filled brimming with washed up C list actors who were on a TV show or movie career years ago but have rarely worked since so they're treated almost contemptuously with a "say Hi and run before they hit you up for work" attitude by people in the business, but in mid sized cities in the Flyover states they're the biggest name to come to town in years and are treated like rock stars- big ovations when they enter the stage, big laughs, people wanting to get their autographs and buy them drinks, etc..

**I was surprised to learn how lucrative the Con circuit is. Sci-fi actors can make six figures a year from the conventions, and Scotty was one of the most beloved guests of all time and probably got more per appearance than anybody save Nimoy and Shatner. His house was detailed on some cable show not long before he died and it was a bloody mansion near Seattle that he said was paid for by conventions.

She's 16 trying to act much older than she is, she seems to be under the impression sexuality is what mature women have that a teenager lacks.

I have to agree, she looks 25-30 to me. I guess its just a combination of makeup, surgery, and genetics.

At 51 he still has a baby face and she looks like she's been around the block and back, several times.Whenever I hear that line I'm reminded of Marianne Faithful in 1979 when she released her famous "Broken English" album. It seemed like she had been around FOREVER and that was before I became aware just how hard she had gone into the smack scene. And then I found out she was only 32 at the time.

Getting back to the OP. You know what I like about this young lady? She's got spunk, loads of self confidence. I, for one, wish her happiness in her life choices.

As for the guy? Hmmmm.... he seems like a decent enough sort of bloke. Would I do it? Hmmm.... at my local supermarket where I'm a regular, there are some young ladies who are always very happy to crack a laugh with me and engage me in conversation, and I'm 49... a very young at heart and fit 49.... but I'm 49 regardless and I personally always take pains to absolutely conduct myself as a total gentleman. But I can't lie, it is flattering.

"Jealousy" implies that those waiting for her to fall on her ass secretly wish they were her, which I doubt is the case.

Perhaps the English phrase "Roman holiday" would apply - enjoyment derived from anticipation of witnessing a debauched and degrading spectacle. ;)

Yes, whenever onlookers have a reaction to a story about a 16-year-old who is apparently being pushed by her parents into behaving like a 45-year-old hooker, it must be jealousy instead of disgust, or confusion, or a general sense of "wtf." No one can ever have any reaction to a female without that reaction being based on jealousy.

Aren't floor/check out workers in grocery stores usually still in high school?

Seems to me that that is the point (although I can't speak for Lady).

A middle-aged adult feeling flattered by attractive teenagers liking to chat and joke with him: :) ;) :D
(Although the fact that these teenagers are store employees who are getting paid partly for socializing with customers may make it a little less flattering, but never mind.)

The local supermarket I attend is one which I've attended now for 16 years or more. Some of the staff who have worked there that long are like friends now who I often buy coffees for if I'm getting a coffee myself.

Some of the staff are middle aged too, and they also like to engage me in laughter and a chat. Most importantly, some of the younger staff are males who are at university, juts making ends meet.

Some of the younger females who engage me in a chat or a laugh are also at university, and very few that I talk to are at high school.

I take an interest in these folks, of all ages, because I take an interest in people in general. I ask about their marks, how their subjects are coming along at uni, how are their kids, etc etc etc. And they, in then, show an interest in my daughter, who is 9 years old.

Occasionally, one of the younger folks, maybe 18 or 19 will be on the right wave length and they'll see me joking and chatting with most of their staff and they too will do the same. If it's a female, it's flattering, but that's where it starts and thats where it ends.

Perhaps the English phrase "Roman holiday" would apply - enjoyment derived from anticipation of witnessing a debauched and degrading spectacle. ;)Well, perhaps people don't want to be her exactly, but I would contend that a lot of the people in this thread "who can't wait for her to fall on her ass" actually secretly wish they were famous - for something.

But I agree, perhaps "Roman Holiday" is more appropriate but I'm unconvinced that jealousness of her instant fame is not also a contributing factor.

Getting back to the OP. You know what I like about this young lady? She's got spunk, loads of self confidence. I, for one, wish her happiness in her life choices.

Except that she doesn't have any self-confidence. Girls with-self confidence do not have their tits/asses splashed all over the internet at 16. Nor do they enter into wildly inappropriate relationships with serious power imbalances. They're in school, looking forward to college, and have boyfriends within reasonable age-ranges. No matter what she looks like, she's a child. A very, very sad, messed up child. Other posters in this thread are correct, her parents ought to be prosecuted.

While I agree that I don't wish her ill, I'm afraid that the only result of the life she's had foisted on her (I don't care how 'willing' she was, a girl that age cannot be said to have truly consented to any of this), is very deep unhappiness.

It looks like she can't close her lips together very easily, and that's the main cause of it. If she's plastic surgery clean, then they're considering injections of collagen to not count as surgery.

While I can't know for sure, I would bet about a year's salary that those breasts are *not* natural. So, let's review. She got married at 16, to a 51 year old. Pictures make it abundantly clear that she possessed the breasts before then. *So*, she got them at 16, or, more probably, 15. I can authoritatively state that she could not have signed a surgical consent for herself at that age, unless she was emancipated, which, there's no mention that she was. Therefore, yes, her parents, at the very least, consented to the surgery. And, almost certainly paid for it.

I knew a girl a few years back who got implants as a high school graduation present from her mom.

Her mom was seriously messed up, living vicariously through her daughter, pushing her into beauty pageants and cheerleading, etc. The daughter, frankly, was pretty messed up, too, but maybe that was a function of the messed-up mom.

Man, neither of them looks their age - they BOTH look like they're in their 30s...

Indeed. When I first saw the marriage picture, I thought the man couldn't be the bride, so was probably her brother or something, because I didn't think for an instant he could be 51. On the TV interview he looks older, but still not 51.

As for the issue at hand : how a man in his right mind would want to marry such a vulgar woman, especially since he's apparently a semi-famous figure, hence likely could have easily found a better partner? There's no way he's able to give a meaningful consent IMO, and I say some law should be enacted to protect middle-aged men for the devilry of teenage boobs.
