A boned skin-on chicken thigh, griddled with olive oil, butter, garlic, scallions and fresh thyme, served with warm naan bread and steamed, buttered green string beans.

I'm clearing out my freezer before our upcoming holiday- hence the chicken thighs and naan bread combo. I was going to make a curry, but didn't have any yoghurt for marinade and raita, so changed my mind.

We bought a seedless watermelon that my husband just carved up and put in storage containers for the fridge. I snacked on several pieces as he worked.

Lunch three hours ago, whole wheat pasta (not the kind I like that I can only find at CostCo, but adequate), shredded/grated/whatever a generous person calls my technique with a box grater pecorino, decent olive oil (TJ house brand, reserve, or whatever their "fancy" one is). Not my favorite EVOO but it's adequate, and cheap, so it does for now, primarily because it's convenient to procure.

Keep me going all day -- probably only 900 calories, but it feels like more.

LONG VER:
IF tldr=1, THEN GOTO SHORTVER:

For lunch, I went to Fatburger (http://www.fatburgercanada.com/menu/signature-burgers-sandwiches) and had a Mushroom Swiss burger with fries, gravy, and a pint of beer. That will hold me over until breakfast.

Twenty years ago, I went to Nevada and first learned of the existence of the Fatburger chain, and for nearly that long I considered it a tangible symbol of the very worst things about the United States. Then they built one right near my office. God damn if that ain't a good burger, and they must put their employees through the best corporate brainwashing program in existence - they seem genuinely happy to see and serve you. (I'm sure it doesn't hurt that they earn decent tips on top of their wage.)

SHORTVER:
Too long? Big-ass burger, fries and beer.

I started munching on them in the car, and by the time I got home there were none left.

That's so weird. That happens to me sometimes too. And it's not always croutons. I think there's some sort of force field over NE Ohio that causes it.*

My first attempt at chickpea masala, with diced tomatoes and green peas added. And brown basmati rice. It's OK. Didn't realize the tomatoes and tomato paste had citric acid added, then used a little too much lemon juice, so I added a little more curry and masala and a dollop of honey to balance it out. If I use the same brand tomato product again I may need to skip the lemon. Not bad for a first try though.
