I have no idea who to sit between Schaub, Ryan, and Sanchez this week. Pretty sure I'm going to pick the wrong one.

Yep, benching Matt Ryan was the wrong move, as expected.

I may just beat Retro in this one. Too bad RNATB can't give Jules a challenge or we'd have an interesting situation at the top.

Yeah I'd need a huge game from all three of my WR's, and for you too get almost nothing from the GB defense.

I forgot to discuss this before we started this year, but the default trade deadline is November 18, which is in a few days. Typically in my leagues we extend the trade deadline out as far as you can (Dec 2 this year). Does anyone object to extending the deadline?
I don't see a downside - the teams at the bottom aren't going to throw the season intentionally and they have a motivation to get better for the relegation bowl anyway.

Varlos you have players out for the afternoon games that need a fix.

How I miss you Jamal Charles. You were going to be great.

What is the playoff structure for this league? The schedule shows me playing teams through week 17.
SenorBeef
11-21-2011, 02:04 PM
There's a (manual) two week playoff between the top 2 teams in week 15-16 for the championship, and a relegation bowl during the same weaks where the bottom two teams play and the loser gets ejected from the league.

Are you guys falling asleep at the switch? Kevin Smith just got taken for $1.
You should be playing to not end up in the relegation bowl if nothing else.
SenorBeef
11-25-2011, 02:00 PM
Everything is pretty much going according to projection between Jules and I, except Laurent Robison tripling his. Which is bad, since he has a huge projected lead on me.
I probably blew my FAAB early, considering people are apparently asleep at the switch at this stage and valuable players are going for next to nothing.
It's hard to envision a scenario where I end up as anything but third this year, damn.

Well, it's starting to look promising. I had a good fourth quarter of the early games. TDs from Newton, Ryan, Damian Williams, Holmes and Sanchez.
Varlos is ahead of Retrovertigo, who had a terrible week - and that's even better.
If this continues, I will move into the 2nd seed.

11-27-2011, 04:04 PM
Last minute substitute of Green-Ellis for Helu is looking good, although Helu is doing well too.
It's unlikely but a scenario is shaping up where either Retro or Jules can miss the playoffs, which would probably be unfair to either. Then again, they've got some time to make up for today, so it might not be unfair it they can't.
SenorBeef
11-27-2011, 07:31 PM
Damn it, Brady to Welker.
I need Mike Wallace to score 15 more points than Antonio Brown.
Edit: Re: Last post, Helu scored 26 points. *headdesk*

I thought for sure I had no shot this week. Brady to Welker x2 saved my ass. Been saving my ass all season, really. It was a minor, fleeting comfort to the debacle that was that Pats/Eagles game.

Well, barring a Jimmy Graham explosion, I am now clear of the relegation zone, as I'll have two wins over Omni.

Eh? You were down by 6. I figured Cruz and Graham would combine for 25 points, Eli would score 20, and I'd win by whatever I got out of Meachem.

Things were looking up around the third quarter of the late games - Varlos was about tied with Retro with 5 vs 2 players left to play, and I had a decent lead on Jules with more players to play. And then Jules gets like 19 Brady to Welker TDs and Retro has Brees put up 43. And there goes my season.
I'd have to win out, and Retro lose out to get in the playoffs. Jules is pretty much guaranteed a spot. Wish I had a chance to play Retro before the season ended to give me a chance.
Edit: I guess we shouldn't really say playoffs, but rather championship.

I'm glad that Matt Forte is out already with a knee injury and won't return. Varlos is going to get his second win against me, his second win total. I hate fantasy football.
And there's Mendenhall with his second TD already. i really hate fantasy football.

I'm thinking I'll win today and the next three weeks, but lose the important two.

Okay. Are we just going with a straight draft order for next season? Or will the #3 and 4 teams play for the 3rd pick in 15/16?
SenorBeef
12-11-2011, 03:47 PM
I hadn't really considered the results this year affecting the draft next year. It isn't a dynasty league so it's not like we need to help the guy with the worst roster, since we'll all be starting fresh. So I figured we'd just do a random draw again.
Really Not All That Bright

I know it doesn't matter at all, but I loved beating Varlos tonight in dramatic fashion. He had Big Ben, Mendenhall and the Pitt D against my Gore and 15 points or so. I expected it to be no contest, he seemed like a lock to make up that difference. And with about 10 minutes left to go in the game he had a tidy 5 point lead. Then when Gore finally broke free for the clinching TD it netted me 8 points or so and cost his defense 4 points. A 5 point deficit immediately turned into a 7 lead which was further secured when Ben got sacked like 5 times and threw a pick. I had some worry about a garbage time TD to get him back over the top, but we held on for the meaningless victory.

The relegation bowl:
VarlosZ scores 224.25 and 244.20 for a total of 468.45.
RNATB scores 235.90 and 174.50 for a total of 410.40
RNATB is the first relegation victim and will be replaced next year.
In the championship game:
Retrovertigo scores 267.09 and 294.00 for a total of 561.09
Jules Andre scores 250.80 and 254.55 for a total of 505.35
Retrovertigo is our champion.

In the non-existent 2 week 3rd place match-up between me and Beef:
Omni scores 229.70 and 245.25 for a total of 474.95.
Beef scores 209.50 and 210.60 for a total of 420.10.
Ha! :p
ETA: It's marginally interesting how these scores slot right in between those of the other two games, and how the playoff scores mostly mirror the regular season results. It seems that with the size of these rosters there's less chance of there's being a lucky match-up dictated win and scores are normalized pretty well.

I'm going to go ahead and throw my hat (back) into the ring for this league. Resume:
SDMB Big League:
I finished with a #5 seed (w/o divisions I'd have been #2), but was the top-scoring team during the regular season, beating the #2 team by over 100 points. I'll end up in 4th (with an outside chance at 3rd) after losing Forte going into the playoffs.
SDMB All-Pro League:
Finished the regular season with the #2 seed and the 2nd highest point total, finished in 3rd place after my studs all simultaneously shit the bed in the second round of the playoffs.
He Hate Me:
Lost Jamaal Charles in Week 1, mortgaged this year's team for the future of Tashard Choice, AJ Green, Julio Jones, and/or Alex Green. Shitty 12th place finish, making a playoff (or even consolation bracket) push was not in the cards this year.
Looks like you guys had fun this year.

And by "Tashard Choice" I of course meant "DeMarco Murray".
