When the Terran Empire fell, what became of Mersia?

I don't think Mersia's fate was ever mentioned, carnivorourplant. I know the Mersians aren't mentioned in "Starfog" and The Night Faces, two works set in the far future of the Terran Empire. Sandra Meisel, who commented several times on Anderson's work, speculated the Mersians might be checked by the Gorzuni or the Ythrians, or might develop their own internal problems.
