Iraqi Kurdistan is the one bright spot in that shithole region of the world.
Since the original gulf war in 1991 Iraqi Kurdistan has been protected by American flyovers. Twenty years of protection and the area has really flourished. It's peaceful and safe. The one bright spot in a region of terrorism and horror.
I'm worried for Iraqi Kurdistan after our December troop pull out from Iraq. The news reports I read don't mention any plans for protecting this region anymore. I wish them well and hope they can continue prospering. I've heard it's some beautiful mountainous country.
SULAIMANI, Iraqi Kurdistan -- Iraqi Kurdistan has launched a US$5 million plan to boost tourism by building resorts and tourist infrastructure in the region’s three provinces.
This plan aims to compensate for years of neglect of the sector, according to officials.
Mawlawi Jabar, head of the Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) tourism department, told Rudaw, “The government plans to build around 40 tourist resorts in all three of the Kurdistan Region’s provinces, as well as a massive resort project on Safin Mountain.”
