View Full Version : Are female names beginning with "V" the sexiest?

As long as I can remember, I have always felt that the absolute sexiest female names were the ones beginning with the letter V. I think "Vanessa" is the sexiest name of all time, but most of the other V names, to me, ooze with sexuality: Veronica, Valerie, Vivian, and - last but not least - Victoria (Vicky). Is this because the "V" sound makes me subconsciously think of "vagina"?

Well, maybe to you, but I think they're all rather unsexy names.

I'm a "Vickie" (not a Victoria though) and this is the first time anyone's ever said anything nice about my name. It was a bane to me as a child because I got "V-I-C-K-I-E M-O-U-S-E" a lot (sung to the tune of the Mickey Mouse Club for the old farts). At least they spelled my name right. That's another problem. No one ever spells it right and I always feel like a dickhead if I correct them.

Anyway, don't know about the sexy, which you might change your mind about after this post, but thanks for giving me a smile.

Victoria - Definitely sexy. It's got the whole lingerie thing behind it. Plus Victoria Principal is still hot
Vanessa - Sexy. Vanessa Williams, Vanessa Marcil, Vanessa Minnillo, Vanessa Paradis, Vanessa Hudgens, Vanessa Kensington
Virginia - Somewhat sexy. Virginia is for lovers. Plus I dated a girl named Virginia.
Valerie - Somewhat sexy. But seventies sexy. Valerie Perrine, Valerie Bertinelli, Valerie Harper, Valerie from Josie and the Pussycats.
Veronica - Borderline. I was always more of a Betty fan.
Vernetta - Borderline. Not a common name but I had a doctor named Vernetta. She was good looking.
Vivian - Borderline. Vivian Hsu: hot. Vivian Vance: not hot.
Velma - Not hot. And was probably into Daphne anyway if you know what I mean.

No, "Debbie" is the hottest female name. Oddly, I cannot recall I ever met anyone named "Debbie."

My girlfriend's name is (a variant of) Venus. I concur with the OP.

Well, maybe to you, but I think they're all rather unsexy names.Me too, but I think that's just my brain shying away from the thought of my aunt Vickie or my cousin Valerie being sexy.

I don't understand how a name or letter could be inherently sexy. However Vivian and Valerie are two of my favorite girl's names.

Is it much of a stretch to include Yvonne and Yvette?

I vote for "Mulva".

Have to agree. Certainly 'Valerie' has to be one of the most unsexy names ever - to the point that I once named a cat that.

K364, I don't think it's a stretch to include 'Yvonne' and 'Yvette'. They're unsexy too.

Paul in Qatar, I'm sure that when she does Dallas, she's hot. Other than that, not.

I've always thought that "Barbara" was the sexiest name. No reason, though.

Nope. But I once knew a Vanessa that was seriously hot.

I like C- and K- names. Catherine, Kaitlin, Kristin, Kayla...

My wife's 94-year-old grandmother's name is Vesta.
In case you were thinking of asking, I do not find her sexy.

Yvonne and Yvette are interesting because they only exist at the extremes. If you have one of those names, you are either ridiculous hot, or 450 pounds.

Vera is my old granny's name. Not sexy.

Also of my very favorite gun.

Vanessa is pretty awesome. I can't remember a bad looking Vanessa.

Female names beginning with J are definitely the sexiest.

Except, that also sounds a lot like "penis". You may need to really think about why you like the name so much. Just sayin'.

It's "s-a" that names do it for me. Vanessa, yes, but also Lisa, Sara, Melissa, Alyssa, Larissa...(sigh)

Female names beginning with J are definitely the sexiest.Ok, that'd be my other pick. Jessica, Jane, Julie, Jenny...heck, I even like old-school names like Janice and Joan.

You and the OP need to go to a Bangles concert together:

Valerie is also a guy's name.

A guy who gets the crap beaten out of him on a NYC schoolyard, maybe.

I was just looking at Skald's thread on "objective beauty," and someone there (maybe the Rhymer himself) mentioned Cobie Smulders. That is a very sexy woman with a seriously unsexy name.

I really do not get what initial letters have to do with sexiness, though. Is this some form of synesthesia that some of you guys have? Do you masturbate to scrabble tiles?

There may be no objective classification of sexy vs. non-sexy initials, but I think many people associate the sounds of words with intangibles that have no definitive connection to the word. I'm sure most poets would agree.

Imagine you are a novelist. You are writing a character who is extremely sexy. You're not going to name her "Cobie Smulders", (unless a specific character trait is founded upon the incongruity or that the character defies expectations). You're going to say to yourself, "Hmmm, she needs a sexy name. What names are sexy? What are the sexiest letters?" If you're Argent Towers, you go with "V".

Of course, your mind may not work this way, and if it doesn't then you're just not going to get it.

I was talking to a friend who is a comic. She had a joke that had a number as part of the punchline. Now, the actual number wasn't important to the joke. She could have used any random number.

The joke was pretty good, but it wasn't going over all that well. I told her that the number she was using was "not a funny number". She agreed and we worked together to come up with a funny number.

Present at the table for this conversation was another friend- a person whose mind does "not work that way". She couldn't believe that we were having a serious conversation about what were and what were not "funny numbers". She didn't believe in the possibility that some numbers were funnier than others. She thought we were putting way too much into it and that the comic friend could go on using whatever number popped into her head during any performance.

Well, the comic friend and I came up with a good number. She has committed to always using the number we decided on (or at least one that observes the Rules of Funny Numbers we established) . . . and the joke gets a much better response.

it shouldn't be suprising then that vanessa is the female name that has the most sex

{fun fact, vanessa is the name for a species of butterfly. it's also, thankfully, my name}
