My parents used to watch reruns of Gunsmoke and it always bothered me that the show was written as though Miss Kitty was attractive.

She was portrayed as older at the end of the series. And back then, TV was a lot smaller and fuzzier for most people, so it wasn't as noticeable. The big topic about Miss Kitty was her profession, which they had to dance around on early TV.
