According to Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iowa_Democratic_caucuses,_2012), it's between some guy named Barack Obama and some other guy named Randall Terry. Has FiveThirtyEight.com or anybody got any polling numbers on these guys?

No, nobody is polling on a race that only has one actual candidate. Randall Terry is running so that he can force media outlets to run graphic anti-choice propaganda as "campaign ads." Polls are too expensive to waste on things like that.

Think Progress reports that not only does the Iowa GOP allow same-day registration, but they do not require ID to vote in their caucus.
How strange is that considering nationwide Republican efforts to 'eliminate voter fraud' by eliminating same day registration and instituting ID laws? I guess those safeguards are only necessary when there is a Democrat involved in that day's vote.

Yes and no. An election in a primary is not governed by the same rules as a an actual election, nor should it be. It's not a function of government to determine who can or cannot vote in a party's primary. The parties could allow 6 year olds to vote if they wanted.

FWIW, the opportunities for fraud are minimal. You have to be at your caucus when it starts - no latecomers - so you really only get one. I guess out-of-staters could potentially abuse this but really?
Aren't the Iowa Dems the same way anyway? I know some people who float between parties so they can caucus either way.

So who won?Looks like Obama got 98% of the delegates. Other candidates split the rest.

Now I'm wondering what a fraction of a delegate looks like.
"OK, that's 320 full delegates, and...Hey, Bob?"
"Oh God, please, no!"
"Sorry, Bob. We need another 0.97 delegates. You're right-handed, right?"
