I admit, I just don't like it when some non-complex news story takes up all news coverage for a few consecutive days, even though nothing has changed since the story first broke. Celebrity deaths, to be sure, but also natural disasters (particularly those of a recurring nature: tornados, flash floods, earthquakes). Once you've spread the news, how often do I need to re-hear it, and how terrible it is, and how sad, and tragic, and how awful, and how horrid.

So it cheers me to sing this little ditty, taking my mind off the morose newscasting. I sing it to myself until the news cycle changes, which might be a while..."...shaving all my vulva, yes I'm shaving all my vulva, yes, I'm shaving all my vulva for you-o-o-o-o-o...."

So what you're saying is that either a) the thermos selection at your local thermos store is underwhelming or b) you've already picked out a thermos?

Am I the only one who doesn't get this?

I think that it might be a commentary on the news reporting about Whitney Houston's death.

Am I the only one who doesn't get this?

Similar to sticking your fingers in your ears and going "La La La La...."

I imagine you don't do that very often.

If it's new related, I don't look at the news. Seems easier than looking at it then blocking it out.

I'm assuming he's singing his little ditty to the same tune that Steve Martin is singing his "I'm picking out a thermos, for yooooooou" song in "The Jerk".

Does it have vinyl, and stripes, and a cup built right in?

Mmm, my guess would he's singing it to the Whitney Houston song "I'm Saving All My Love For You." Given that he's talking about the overcoverage of Whitney Houston's death and all.

If that's the case, Shaving Off My Muff For You (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHxDr0xdpU4) scans better. Try that one, OP, and save your version for the day Bernadette Peters dies.

Yeah, I hate this sort of thing too. Worst part is EVERY channel seems to get infected with the same stories, so when it happens, it's hard to avoid.

I like it. I can add that to my chorus.

Yeah, I thought it was a reference to the thermos song from The Jerk.

Concur. I was surprised to see Democracy Now devote considerable minutes to the story. I mean, it's sad and all, but surely there are more important things going on that might benefit from the coverage. Since DN fills the niche of reporting on a lot of stories that mainstream doesn't, you'd think that they could just leave this story to all the other outlets that will be doing it to death.

OK, I probably would have gotten that if I'd heard the OP, instead of reading it. Or if I'd heard that song spoof before.
