View Full Version : Gay Guys Celebrate 31st Anniversary Today!

Yep, that be us!
Mr. and Mr. DMark have been together 31 years today.

We're healthy (doctor's appointment last week all good news), truly happy and in love.
We still do everything together, laugh a lot and appreciate every day together as something to cherish.

I doubt we will be getting a card or gift from Rick Santorum, but we are quite happy to be living proof that two guys can love each other, take care of each other, and live happily ever after.

Congratulations!

(You're ahead of us, celebrating 20 years this year and still going strong.)

May I ask what is the event the anniversary of which you are celebrating today? The day you met? A commitment ceremony? The day you moved in together?

I'd like to see more of these stories; there must be more folks in long-term gay relationships here. Step up with your stories, folks!

Until somebody does, may I step in and offer my hearty congratulations on having found the love of your life (and managing to not fuck it all up :D) and also, Mazel Tov, you crazy kids!

31? Holy crap, we've been on these boards a long time - I recall you talking about being with your spouse for 25 years!

Congratulations! Give him a big hug for us, okay? :)

You two have single (double?)-handedly destroyed the moral fiber of this country, or so I've been led to believe by ... some ... people.

And WHY isn't the mister a Doper too, hmmm? I mean, you haven't brought him over to the dark side yet? We have cookies!

Congratulations! Hope you will be together as long as my parents, they celebrate their 60th this year.

That means you've been together more than 50 Gingrich Marital Units or 150 Kardashians!

You have been destroying the institution of marriage for 31 years (It's taking longer than we thought).

Seriously, all the best. That's quite an accomplishment.

So are you two legally married anywhere? If not, do you intend to be? (I realize there are millions of straight couples living together with no desire to legally marry, so no judgment, just curious.)

Congratulations! You've managed to stay together slightly longer than I've been alive.

Speaking of which, we were sorry to put you up for adoption, but back then we were young and didn't know if it would last....

WOW! Hearty congrats! You've been together nearly as long as I've been alive (34 as of Saturday)

We were at your 3rd birthday - remember when your "uncles" gave you that big check for your trust fund? Hope your parents let you know...

I guess it's safe to say that you two aren't going through a phase.

Let's just say we still enjoy the experimenting part.

You two have single (double?)-handedly destroyed the moral fiber of this country, or so I've been led to believe by ... some ... people.

Just following the instructions from the Gay Agenda Manual.

And WHY isn't the mister a Doper too, hmmm? I mean, you haven't brought him over to the dark side yet? We have cookies!

Congratulations! Hope you will be together as long as my parents, they celebrate their 60th this year.

The SO has a phobia about computers - no matter how hard I have tried, unlike me he has no interest whatsoever in 90% of all technological toys. Of course, whenever he wants to order something online or needs info, guess who becomes his personal secretary at the keyboard? He's no fool.

And congrats to your parents!

You have been destroying the institution of marriage for 31 years (It's taking longer than we thought).

Ya know, we have been trying to do that for 31 years and dumbass Kim Kardashian accomplishes ruination of the sanctity of marriage in one fell swoop.

It'll never last.

To be honest, we really were sort of polar opposites when we first met and most of our friends said that same exact thing. One guy told my SO that we wouldn't last 6 months together.

So are you two legally married anywhere? If not, do you intend to be? (I realize there are millions of straight couples living together with no desire to legally marry, so no judgment, just curious.)

Na - back when we first got together, a committment ceremony was solemnly promising to call the next morning. When we first moved to West Hollywood, they had a special Domestic Partners' document that we signed. Cost about $10 if I recall correctly and had no legal significance whatsoever but it was pretty and suitable for framing.
About two years ago, Nevada passed a law allowing Domestic Partners some rights - so we did that. If it marriage were legal here, we would happily tie the knot.
Odd, isn't it? Nevada is the only state in the US that has legal prostitution, but the idea of two guys getting legally married freaks the zealot bible thumpers out of their bigoted little minds.

Thanks for all the good wishes, everyone!
I had to work today, but we are going out tonight and I have taken tomorrow off so we can party the night away! (Early bird special, home in bed by 11) Tomorrow we are going out to dinner at a better place, and might see a show or movie.
Thanks again for the good wishes!

Congratulations, you two! :D

Here's to 31 (at least!) more years of undermining America's moral fiber.

America gets too much fiber as it is, judging by how constipated it is about some things. So you're doing your part to help out! :D

Hee. Our 18th anniversary is on Sunday and I would have to decline answering your question. :D

But it does bring up anniversary complications since we did get married when it became legal. Anniversary 1 is on year 18, but Anniversary 2 is on year 8.

Congrats. That is a very long time to be together. My husband and I get 17 of marriage, 19 of couplehood, and 30 of knowing each other - took us a while to figure out we were supposed to be a couple. The nice thing about knowing someone that long, you know almost all their secrets...you used to know them all, but you forgot a few over the years.

Damn, DMark, I thought you were around 40 years old. You're aging well! Congrats to you and your other half. 31 years is a long time for anyone to put up with someone else, so you guys are obviously doing something right.
