I have about 1000 cards and I haven't played in years. They're all in very good condition. What's the best way to unload this stuff? Ebay? How do I figure out how much my stuff is worth? Should I just sell the whole shebang on Ebay or pick out the expensive ones and sell them seperately. (If the latter, it's probably not worth the effert if I'm going to net less than $100.)

Maybe try selling them en masse at a local comic books store. They won't probably give you full trading price, but they'll probably give you a good bulk price.

Comic book store! That's a good idea. I'm not sure there are any around here close to me (northern Westchester, NY) but I'll ask around next time i'm in NYC.

you may be gravely disappointed. The market for the cards has dropped a lot. The most expensive and desireable cards only go for about $10, excluding things like black lotuses.

Still got any friends that play?
I got rid of my collection that way -- a friend who was still playing took them to conventions with him and sold them off.
And the best bit... he just took a couple of rare cards as payment. :)

Looks like most 1000 card collections on ebay are going for around 15 bucks. Sad, I know. Either sell them to me for a little above that, or take out the best ones and sell them seperately. Or sell them to me .

Mr. Tamex is an avid MTG player and he has this to say:
Don't waste your time at card shops and comic book stores, because they will only buy what they can make money on ... which means you won't get much selling them there. If you have any Black Lotus or any of the Mox cards, have someone with a good feedback rating on Ebay sell them for you ... if your rating is low people won't bid because they will think you'll take the money and never send those expensive cards. If you are active on Ebay, sell the rares there in small groups. Commons and uncommons won't sell well at all. Your best bet may be to email a list of all your cards to anyone that says they want them and sell to the highest bidder ... you can put me on that list. wyrmling@juno.com
