View Full Version : Cecil's equipment

In his classic response to the question about 1,000,000 Chinese jumping off chairs, Cecil refers to his Apple 380S GT. Written in 1983 or so (in the First Book, printed 1984), that seems rather state-of-the-art; we should expect nothing less.
What's he using now ? His own T-3 ? Cable ? Or low-tech "parallel computing", aka moderators ?

That's a good question. The last I heard, Cecil had taken a great leap backwards and had returned to using a quill pen. . . let me ask and see if I can find out what Cecil endorses.

I've never heard of an Apple 380S GT. There was the Apple I, then the II, II+, Lisa, IIGS, but no Apple 380S GT. No Mac 380S GT, either, but the Mac wasn't premiered until 1984. So... what did he use?

Aha! An Altavista Search shows a Mercedes-Benz 380S! So he used his car? He musta thought no one would notice... HAHAHA! I have found a flaw in Cecil! When do I get my prize? ;)

Loser.
Mere silicon was inadequate. That's why I hired Little Ed. When I scream at something, I want it to cringe.

Wow! Cecil answered somebody in my forum! O happy day!
However . . . he still didn't answer the question. ::: sigh :::

Actually no, Ike (like the Teeming Millions care); that's not what this forum's about.
Unless you want to start a thread elsewhere "Jazz Legends I Have Known."
(Usually I'd send email . . . but . . .)

who sees your Diz and raises you . . . a Little Jazz . . . :)

Well, okay, TD, here's the e-mail link...but just for you. And only because you added the spike heels to the usherette outfit a few weeks back.
(Hey! can't Administrators/Moderators send e-mail to mere members anyway?)

How many one armed trumpet players do you know?
I take it you've also made the pilgrimage to Davenport, Iowa? I'm not normally a joiner, but I did contemplate the Sons of Bix at one point. . . (and the Sons of the Desert, but that's another thread for another day and another fine mess altogether).

I thought I heard Buddy Bolden say . . .
URR!!!!! I HATE it when I do that!

OhboyohboyohboyOHBOY...Got 'er on the FIRST exchange!
TD, dollin', I think you may be mistaking Muggsy Spanier for Wingy Manone? As far as I know, Spanier had all of his limbs intact.
Okay, I'll stop now, and wait for your e-mail to palaver. But I couldn't resist...

ARGGH!
(Said with Captain Kirk inflection) "Must - put - brain - in gear - before -- uhh -- fingers -- in -- motion!"
You are so right. And now I'm blushing beet red with embarrassment.
Let's move this discussion elsewhere. How about a thread in MPSIMS: "great trumpet players we have misidentified?"
Only partially kidding.

Okay, after getting over the fact that I was talked to by Our Great And Special One, I realized... he insulted me. Without a real reason. And on top of that, he didn't even answer the question (other than to say Ed helps him... So? We know that, Unca Cece).
He's not that much of a god-like figure anymore...

Cecil doesn't need a reason.
Think we can lure him over to GQ? (I have no hopes of dragging him into MPSIMS.)

He insulted you "for no reason" ???
Gimme a break. Go back and read your own post: << He musta thought no one would notice... HAHAHA! I have found a flaw in Cecil! When do I get my prize? >>
You taunted, he responded. Seems reasonable to me. But, hey, being insulted by Cecil is a sort of honour, in a way.

Well, TubaDiva... apparently the sacrifice was insufficient. While the answer for the current equipment (i.e. Ed) came through, we're still left hanging on the business about the Apple model.
BTW, jazz fan too. Personal trivia: One of my old buddies is the union organizer for the jazz musicians in NY.

Who's doing that these days? It was Bill Moriarity when I was in NYC, now he's the local union prez.

Cool, Jorge! I love jazz and I'll discuss it with anybody, on the board or offline .. . just not in this thread. (Let's give everybody else a break!)
