View Full Version : Getting Your Dirty Pictures Developed

I've seen all sorts of amateur porn on the internet and in stores. What I've always wondered is, where do these people go to get their film developed? (Forget about digital cameras. They're relatively new, and these kinds of pictures have been around a long time.) Don't the people at, say, my local Target one-hour film processing desk look at the pictures that they develop? Isn't there some sort of quality control that goes on? I remember, back in college, taking pictures of my fine "tomato" plants that grew so well in my closet. I took them to a local drug store for processing, and remember getting a funny kind of smirk from the guy behind the counter when I went to pick them up. But I couldn't imagine taking a whole roll of dirty pictures to my local developer. What's to keep them from making double prints of my wife and I and selling them to god knows who (not that anyone would WANT them). Are there secured film processors out there, possibly by mail order? Or is the whole developing process so totally automatic that there is no need to look through the pictures before giving them back to the customer? Or do these people just not care who sees them naked?

Cecil addressed this in his first book. IIRC, basically you go to a photo store that you can trust. Stay away from drugstores. Some chains will send you a nasty note telling you not to do it again, or only return the developed negatives, not prints. You have no guarantee that someone isn't keeping a copy, so that's why Cecil said trust is so important.
Edwin Land invented a device that is useful in this regard. It's called a Polaroid camera.

Or you could...
Buy a polaroid camera.
Learn to develop yourself.
Take it to a place that specialize in this. they advertise in the back sections of photoraphy magazines. Don't know if you can trust them though.

A good friend of mine owned a photographic lab for about 15 years. They never solicited the business, but they got quite a bit of everything from nude poses to the very kinky. They just developed them, made the customer's prints, made their own prints for their very large collection and never said anything untoward to the customer.
This lab was across the street from a large university campus and did a lot of student business. My friend told me it was kind of odd to walk down the Drag and see all these people he recognized from their "let's have some fun with the camera" episodes.

Btw.. digital cameras "relatively new"? Not hardly. Why futz around with film when you can print your own pics on photographic paper? And/or send them around via email to family and friend// uh.. strike that.

Kinky pictures are one thing, but what about child porn? I mean, if I worked in a photolab, I imagine I would just chuckle at anything up to and including chicken antics, but if I saw someone doing something explicit to an eight year old, I'd be calling the cops--and I imagine this is true for most people. Yet child porn does get deveoloped. Where? It's a nasty thought that someone could let something like that go unreported.
I grew up in Kodak country -- Rochester, NY. At least in the seventies their quality control people were instructed to pull all "dirty" pictures -- I think they were called "Number 7"s. They'd send you back the negative, but not the print.

I have a friend who works in a one-hour photo lab, and he gets to see the naughty bits of various strangers, a new set from someone every day, on average.
There are laws forbidding these stores from making their own copies, but they happily print them for the customer, no questions asked. Except maybe "How did you get your leg up there, don't those things hurt your wrists?"

Hey, I'm in Rochester for college now. Melin, where are those photo labs...I could use some extra cash and wall decorations. :)

I worked for an old guy once on the greenskeeping crew of a golf course. He had a photo on his wall from a newspaper showing about a dozen black bears up in one tree. They had run all those bears up the same tree on the golf course with a jeep and then the old guy took a picture. Somebody at the photo lab copied his picture and sold it to the newspaper.
They addressed this question in a recent Playboy. Yup, I'm a girl and I love that magazine. Couldn't tell you who was on the cover, (or what any of the naked girls looked like) but there was a great interview with Chris Rock. Anyway, there are some very reputable places that you send your film to. I can't remember the web link, but it was Delilah something or other. They will develop anything that's not illegal, and they don't make copies.

Well, I'm sure some of you have run across the ultimate story related to this.
For those who missed it (lucky you: heavy gross out dead ahead) it was originally poasted in Dan's Gallery of the Grotesque.
Seems this trailer trash gal and her tattooed honey decided to get rid of her husband. Okay so far. They kill him by cutting his throat. Ewww.
Here's where it gets both lurid and stupefying.
They hacked him up. Head, legs, arms, hands, feet, penis...all in pieces. They did this with a hacksaw. In the nude. Taking turns. Then they took the bopdy parts and posed them in "humorous" poses, the head with the dismembered hand sticking a finger up it's nose, the penis in his mouth, foot in mouth, etc.
And they took pictures. OF EVERYTHING. INCLUDING THEMSELVES HACKING HIM UP.
Then, to top it off, they took them to a "friend" at the local photo developer, who was indeed enough of a friend to actually develop them, but apparantly not smart enough or friend enough to make sure he packaged them and delivered them personally, so the person who DID package them had the good citizenship to call the cops.
It boggles the mind, it truly does.
I have seen the photos. They are NOT faked, believe me. It's a for real deal. They are also perfectly nauseating.

By the way, having seen the pictures, and the girl and guy doing all this, I can only conclude that they must have been on some serious drugs. Either that, or her husband was grossly abusive, because those are the only cisrcumstances I can imagine in which a person, particularly a girl person, could do such disgusting, foul and grostesque things and LAUGH about it, which she was. Grinning with her hands covered in gore.

Stoidela, I have seen the pictures that you mentioned, and yes, they are repulsive. But I thought that they were faked, and that is was just a hoax that went around the net. Not to doubt what you say, but do you know for a fact that they were real? Were the two ever tried? Are they in jail? I could never find out anything more than what was on the web page that the pictures were on. I found the page by accident through multiple links, and have no idea where it is now.

Dirty Devil:
Did you see them on Dan's Gallery? He had the whole sordid tale, including the fact that yes, they are both in prison serving extremely long sentences.
I would be very interested to know her back story, for the reasons menaitoned above.
And I know they wern't faked because I trusted Dan AND because I have seen a TON of real gore, death, dismemberment, etc, and I've seen alot of fake. There is no question whatsoever that that was for real. There are many reasons, but the color of the flesh alone is a giveaway...as the photos show the progession of time, you see the body turning a nastier and nasier shade of purple. I've never seen faked gore that was that accurate and detailed.
It was for real.

Let's put aside for a moment whether the pictures are real. If the story behind them is true, it must be backed up by newspaper reports and public records. Are there any?

Well, if the pictures are real, what OTHER story would there be?
But I don't have names, places or dates. Just vivid images.

they don't make copies
Well, at least they say they don't make copies. How would you ever know if they did or not?

I remember a case recently in which a photo lab made copies for nude pictures for a long time & finally got caught. Some jail time, I think.
back of some magazines also have ads for comps that do that kind of work. Although wouldnt surprise me if they too copy.

Yes, Cecil has it right, you can get the film processed but not printed at most stores.
Im not sure if they printed the pictures & sold the prints to you if that constituted dealing in porno, but wouldn't surprise me.

Yes, they were tweaking. And yes, this is a legit news story that has been reported in the mainstream (mentioned again recently in a RS article on meth).

I would really like to know more about this sordid tale. Any details that might help me track down the information?
